I am a 2008 graduate of Heber Springs High School and attended this district since kindergarten. Although flaws exist at this school, I believe that I got a quality education by some extremely talented and motivated educators. Everyone from the custodial and transportation staff to the superintendent and principal was interested in making the school a great learning environment for students from K-12. I highly recommend this school to anyone considering attending and would add that the education I got there has served me well in college. Thank you, Heber Springs School District!

I am a former student from this school and agree with all the reviewers who state that this school and beurocratic tendencies and biased administration. Even though the school has made a few improvements, there still exist a few problems: lack of interest in paying it's teachers fair and competitive wages, support of students' education and making it a priority, distrubute funding evenly to all school programs (despite whether if it's academic or athletic), having more extracurricular activites for different interest, and unbiased reinforcement towards its students. In addition, this schools top administration should concentrate on what is be for students' education and future rather than what they think is a fair salary for themselves.

The present administration showed promise in the beginning of of their reign by placing academics and learning first. They have now fallen into the barrel with the rest who place athletics above learning, hire coaches rather than teachers, spend money for field houses and gyms rather than textbooks and competitive teacher salaries, and discourage rather than encourage innovative teaching strategies. HS was once a great school and could be again if the present administration would get back their focus of placing all student needs first and foremost. They should stop complaining about NCLB and grasp the good qualities of the program and make it great for everyone. We need to work together to prepare our children to live and contribute in a global community.

In the past two years, the new superintendent of Heber Springs has turned the school around. There is an extracurricular activity for anyone and everyone. There are many clubs and organizations that make Heber Springs a better community. From the wonderful janitorial staff to the administration and school board, Heber Springs School District is a highly motivational school that deserves more credit than it receives. Heber Springs is a high school spirited community that everyone can be apart of. -LGT

For the budget allowed for this school I find it to be a very good school. Both of my children have attended this school from kindergarten and do very well on the ACT and other test administered to compare them with students nationally and state wide, ranking in the top 10 percent. There are other after school activities that are not sports related as in band, choir and many clubs. We have had financial problems in the past but that has been turned around.

I attended Heber Springs schools as some 20 + years ago. I have other family attending. I have to agree wholeheartedly with the other reviews, this school system is way to biased and polical for my likings. I ship my children 30 miles up the road to where I know they are being recognized for their abilities and talents, and not by what their last name is.

I 100% agree with the posted comments of the April'05 signed sol. I couldn't have said it better myself. I have attempted, and failed miserably, to be involved and make a better school district for my two children. The bureaucratic b.s. is unbelievable.-sob'

This entire 'academic' system in the community is riddled with politics and preoccupied with its sports program. The needs of the students are secondary in regards to the agenda of a bureaucratical 'school board' and their nepotistic mind set. The school as a whole doesn't represent a diverse cirriculum or demographic regarding ethnicity. Set in a 'rural' county of Arkansas this public school is quite appealing to those which seek a sequestered community mentality. -Sol
