This school could benefit by adding additional programs such as band, choir, foreign language, chess club etc..... The Gifted and Talented Program is all politcal and you are guaranteed a spot in the GT class if your parent is a teacher regardless of your academic standing! Mrs. Norman and Mrs. Lupton are the most caring teachers this school could ever have.

Our child is in kindergarten at Lakewood. We have Mrs. Matthews and absolutely love her! Her room is so cute and inviting. She oviously loves kids. We think this is a great school.

My son is ADHD w/ socialization issues, and this is my sons 1st day of school at Lakewood Elementary. All the kids and staff very warmly greeted my son and made him feel very welcome and I have never heard so many children with such pride in there school. They all spoke very highly of the school, staff, grounds, curricular activities etc. I have a very good feeling with I enter this school and so did my son. I know my son is going to excel here, and look forward to all our time with them. They have great parent envolvment, and a 'No Bullies' policy. Very healthy, stable environment. I highly recommend this school. Thank you Lakewood, 'You Can't Hide That Lion Pride'

I would like to thank the Kindergarten teachers especially Ms. Norman. She made the first experience w/ the NLR school district a memorable one for my daughter and I. The faculty/staff are very friendly and helpful. The test scores that are obtained by the students speak for themselves in that they demonstrate the knowledge that is being taught to them. No one is left behind and each child is treated the same. I've only experienced the Kindergarten sector but I'm sure the rest of the program will be just as rewarding. The principal is very personable and exemplifies a true leader. Overall, this school is outstanding.

Teachers are very good at taking kids to their learning level. A one on one atmostphere in a class of 19 is a wonderful thing to have! No child is neglected. They are very high on parental involvement, which I love, but most of all father's come to the school once per month on a rotation called Dad's of Good Students (DOGS). This is great for the kids to see it's a family thing not just a mommie place. K-5 goes to computer at least 2 days per week. The art department is great but in constant need of supply donations. The parents and teachers really work together and this is the main reason why I choose this school for my three children. They also have a no bullying policy which is wonderful for a small child, it really helps out the little ones.
