My son LOVES this school!! We are so incredibly happy with all the teachers he has had so far!!
My son has autism and will be on the waiting list. Does anyone know if they offer ABA and is it a good school for autism? They aren't using any ABA where he is now and he really needs it. I will have to get on the lottery they offer because of my sons sudden handicap, now change of career less money for us right now. It made me choose a rating star. Here's for my friend from 2012, she has a fourteen year old with a handicap and loves it.
Let me start by saying I have my second child attending BCSA currently. The school has changed significantly since my first child started. It has been in overall steady decline the entire time. Our first "incident" was 4 years in with my son. The teacher left a room full of 5th graders alone to go to the office. While she was gone, a particularly child my son had been having issues with took his homework and tore it up and threw the papers all over the floor. My son ended up in trouble and had to redo the assignment. The teacher told several lies while vetting that incident and the principle (now superintendant) refused to address that issue. Several other minor issues have become increasing frequent. Now my daughter has been the target of bullying, but the group of girls constantly harassing her each reported her for bullying. The principle's logic? If three girls all report an incident, it must be true. Young girls would never conspire like that. I have seen the texts from these little darlings myself. The principle didn't care to. I'd rather have my daughter a faceless child in a crowd than a target amongst a few. She'll take her high scores back to public school.
I am a very involved parent at BCSA and feel like I know what is and is NOT going on. If you will look at the 2012 test scores, BCSA has some of the highest in the state. The teachers there are some of the best I have encountered, and do a great job with parents and students. The administration is the strongest since the beginning of this charter. There is now a principal in place, as well as a superintendent. The principal comes from Springdale public schools, so has been very involved in education for over 20 years. The disgruntle parents need to get their facts in order before posting such negative reviews!
My older boys have been attending BCSA since 2006 and we loved it in the beginning. Fast forward to all the staffing and administrative , changes, and arrests of teachers and this school has become a big disappointment. My youngest son, who will be in K next year will not be attending BCSA, and I'm considering taking my middle schooler out as well. If you consider putting your kids in this school based on any good reviews, please take note that the good reviews were before 2010.
It has changed. Staff being arrested. No history or languages at all. Not even Spanish. Gang tags at the school. Stay away, I wish I had.
Bad conduct from office staff. Rudeness, and denial of truth. Poor test scores, not a place you want to put your kids. At least not until there is a staff overhaul.
I am attending this school currently and its the best school ever! My 2/3 brothers had attended this school and still recognize there teachers. The teachers there do an excellent job. I understand all of the concepts of there teaching. I get all good grades and I give it all to the teachers! They are wonderful, amazing, and so so smart! the list could go on forever!!!! I truly love BCSA! if you go there it would be the best decicion you made!!!!
I have two children enrolled at this school and I am very impressed. I love the fact that I can volunteer at anytime and see what is happening at the school. From kindergarten they are bringing home little books to read. My daughter who is in first grade is learning time, money, measuring in cm and inches and they will begin to learn fractions. As far as bullying my son had a problem, I mentioned it to the teacher and they have kept an eye out for it. The problem I have seen is some parents refuse to see that their child has behavior that leads to bullying like pinching and pushing. If you have an open mind and you are always welcome to come see for yourself you can help your child and another with this issue. I volunteer at the playground sometimes to keep an eye on things. I
We love the smaller class size and teacher envolvement. My two children enjoy the atmosphere. We have been going here the past four years.
I love BCSA. My 2 kids have been going there for the past 2 years. Before BCSA, they when to public school. I had to drag them out of bed every morning. Now, they drag me out of bed! The student to teacher ratio is low. They really have a lot of fun at this school. What other school offers Drama, Dance, Suzuki, Spanish, Latin, Japanese and Art ? I can't wait till my other two kids get to go too!
My child came from 3 yrs. in rogers schools to BCSA. It is like night and day. My child LOVES school now. Teachers show a genuine interest in the students and in their teaching. Sadly, I didn't see much of that in public school. The schools test scores are higher than public school and i think that speaks to the commitment of the teachers. I only wish they had a 9-12 grade program. I would highly recommend BCSA to anyone!
My 11 year old and 9 year old both love BCSA! This is their 1st year there after being in regular public school. My children were not learning near what they needed to in the school they were in. All the old school seemed to want to do is teach toward the benchmark! Then send the children home with homework for the parents to teach what they couldn't during the day! BCSA teaches everything they should be learning in class! My boys do still have homework but they are practicing things they have already covered in the classroom! The teachers keep in close contact with the parents on the students progress and they genuinely care for the kids! We feel very blessed to be a part of this school! The difference has been night and day! Thank you to all of the teachers and staff!
My daughter was in another school before attending BCSA. It is like night and day. The teachers are there because they care. My daughter loves BCSA. She is above grade level in reading and math. Teachers take the time to listen to your concerns. My daughter will attend BCSA through the 8 grade. I am so thankful for the school.
I have attended BCSA since the very first year. Not only have I found that I actually DO enjoy school, I have found things I never knew i am good at. I would suggest this school to any parent who has a child in need. You can find kind people and great learning experiences every way you turn at BCSA.
I am not a parent at BCSA but a student and I have learned a lot from being at this school, the music and art are realy nice to have and bring a lot of fun into the school. By far my favorite teacher is Mrs. Cerna, who shows love for her students. She sets her standards two grades ahead of the grade she is teaching and the students who come from her class and go to other schools will most definately have the advantage. -Jonathan Bee, Lighting Tech. at BCSA
When we moved to rogers, we had our son in the Rogers public school, and felt they had way to many students in the class room. My wife and I talked to many parents and teachers from other schools and found a high respect and marks for the school and it's teachers. We were fortunate to get our son in BCSA, and we could not be happier. There will always be bad things said about good things, but the proof is in our son. He could not enjoy school anymore and he has improved his grades beyond our hopes. He has two of the best teachers we have ever met and every person we have met at the school has been wonderful. With small student count in each class, great teachers and leaders, to the wonderful parent involvement, we feel we could not have made a better choice.
BCSA is a great school. As with any start up, there will be growing pains and obstacles to endure (obstacles which have nothing to do with the quality of education children receive, but with bureaucratic red tape). BCSA does not receive funds from our property taxes as our public counterparts, but somehow still manages to offer Suzuki classes, drama and quality teachers. Parents must realize that not only are they enrolling their children in this school, but themselves. Parents not interested in this kind of commitment to BCSA will only become frustrated and will eventually have to send their children elsewhere. BCSA is a good school that provides a touch of the arts to those who love the arts.
I used to teach at Bcsa and left to be a Stay home mommy. I hope there is an opening for my daughter when time comes. This is an excellent school and a great alternative to the overcrowding and burnt out staff of our public schools.
I am a teacher in a real public school. I have received numerous studnets from bcsa and all of them have been behind scholastically. Parents haven't been happy, and the school has yet to provide all that it promised in the beginning. Music, dance, and the arts are extra-curricular activities that should take place after school. Eventually all parents will see that. I just hope it's not too late.
