I was a student at Vilonia for the majority of my schooling. I must say that it is a wonderful school! The teachers there are excellent. They really have a passion about what they do, and they care about their students. Vilonia doesn't have a huge variety of AP and college level classes, but there are a few; and if you take advantage of them, you won't regret it. After graduating high school, I felt fully prepared to enter into a college program. I actually finished my first semester of college with a 4.0 and I know that my former teachers played a huge role in my success! They are wonderful!
WARNING: bullying is permitted if your pockets are deep enough!!!! And teen pregnancy is encouraged with on site daycare and nothing else to do in the community!!! Run very fast from this place!!!
When we moved to Vilonia, our kids had been in an excellent private school in another state. However, there were challenges...here we have found the faculty to be overall - excellent. In some areas the curriculum could kick it up a notch in elementary. But my older kids say the math is right on target and challenging. We like the fact that the principals are strict. Our kids feel safe, and with good discipline they are learning more easily. What most impressed us was the way the elementary counselor handled the transition in of our child with ASperger's Disorder. She is knowledgeable and seems to educate the teachers as well. We were very pleased. Extra curricular activities are good and available to all. They are also encouraged. Parent involvement is also encouraged. I rarley give a 5 rating, since there is always room to improve, but I will give a 4.
I been reading all of the reviews and I say that Vilonia is a Great School! I am a student here and I love it here! Everybody is nice! I also been reading and a lot of people say to go to Greenbrier, I DISAGREE! Stay with Vilonia! We have a lot of opportunites here! Our Band has a lot of Honors and so do the sports! We may not have alot of AP Classes but not every school has everything that you want! Its a small town thats getting bigger and bigger by the year! The schools are a little strict but it makes a lot of students straighten up and gets students ready for the real world! And thats mostly why the goverment put kids in school to make them learn and get them ready for the real world! Thats what Vilonia does! It makes students become adults!
I went to Vilonia from K-12, except for a 3 month period of time when I went to Arizona my Junior year. That stint of time in another school made me appreciate the family environment that the Vilonia School System has to offer. Now my own child is going into the 10th grade at Vilonia and I couldn't be happier. It's a great school for anyone and it does prepare for you well for the real world
I attended Vilonia schools from K to 12th grade. The school system is great! It has a lot to offer everyone, not just farmers, musicians, and sports fans. They have art, business, child care, auto body, just about everything. And safe, I have yet to hear of a safer school from my friends. The staff is excellent and does whatever it takes to keep the students safe and learning. I am proud to say that I graduated from this school.
I completed school here, and I regret it. I didn't go to school to be in band or play sports. I went to take classes something Vilonia is lacking. If you don't want to be a farmer or mechanic of some kind, this isn't the school for you. There are only two foreign language classes, Spanish and French, and they only go up to the second level! There are very little Information Technology classes, and the math program is a total joke. This school is bad. Very bad. That is all.
for one thing greenbrier is not a better school VILONIA all the way and I was a student there until my freshman year and i'm dreading ever going away from that place and I wish I could go back. Great school, UNBEATABlE band and great environment for your kids. -----Eagles Fan-----
I was a student here from 1st grade to the end of first semester in 10th. I went to jville and. I can tell you right off that vilonia is by far better than jville. The teachers here at Vilonia care about the students. Yea there may not be many Ap classes but they have collage classes in their place. If you want a really good school for your kids to go too choose Vilonia Home of the Eagles. Your kid(s) will love it.
There are not many AP classes either. So if you are looking for a school for your children, I wouldn't choose Vilonia. There is a really great school with open arms right down the road called Greenbrier. It is the best school in the county!
My kids came to this school dist in 2001. The school they came from just doesn't compare to Vilonia Schools. Vilonia cares more about each student to make sure they are getting educated. Peer pressure actually puts pressure on the kids to make good grades and not the opposite. The administration keeps control of the student body, and the learning enviroment is good. The band and sports teams are consistently the best in the state. The standardized test scores are consistently above average. As a parent, I couldn't be more satisfied.
I have had children in the Vilonia School system since 1990 and I can honestly say that I believe taht this is most assuredly the best school district in Faulkner County and possibly even the best in the state. Of course there are problems, every school has problems, but these things help our children learn and grow as people. My children have also been involved in the band program and I have to say that Vilonia does have the best band in the state, which is evident in the fact that they have been honored to play at such events as Governor Huckabee's inauguration. I am proud to have my children attend Vilonia schools.
This is a great school but no school is perfect. This is a school that cares but the parents still need to be proactive to obtain what their child needs. In our experience, the teachers have been very helpful. Scheduling has been a nightmare every year. The scheduling process looks and sounds good but has major problems in reality. The band program is wonderful, even if your child isn't blessed with musical talent. Parent participation is great in the school and in the band program. This is a school with a lot of community support. Other than the incompetence of the school personnel in charge of scheduling, this is a wonderful school.
I was a student at Vilonia High School until this past year. I decided to start my junior year at the Arkansas School of Mathematics, Sciences, and the Arts. At times I am happy about the decision I made, after all I am now getting German and Latin. Other times, I'm sorry about the fact that I have left behind the best atmosphere, teachers who care, and the coolest band program in the world. To the students who attend Vilonia, the people who work there, and the parents who watch their kids grow up in that system, don't take it for granted. Vilonia is probably one of the best place a child could gain an education. I must say, that I still miss it. - Cassidy
I just read the other reviews on this page. Real parents/kids in this school haven't expressed a view, so here's the opinion of the real people. Vilonia has the best Band of any state, good sports, and even better sportsmanship. Our students/parents have always been gracious to other teams/bands, even when those same bands/teams/parents have needed to take lessons in having class. Our band kids have been invited to go where most adults wish they could go, and are always welcome back. Vilonia may be strict, but the only media attention they get is positive. We may be small, but our kids are well equiped to funtion in and run the real world. The kids are not repressed, and do express themselves, just not in inappropriate or violent way. I'd put this school up against any other, and even say they are better behaved than lots of grownups.
I have two students who have been in the Vilonia school system from 3rd and 4th grades and will now be going to 9th and 10th grades. I think Vilonia has a very good school system. There might not be a wide variety of different classes, but that is to be expected with smaller schools.
This is a good school for the most part. I am really a student here. I like most of the teachers and even if theres not many AE classes Vilonia offers many College credit classes in there places... The education level is very high. The only problum is it's students. There are cliqus but there not bad and theres alot of drama... but all in all it's a good school if you dress decent and have good grades. One thing I must warn about is the strictness. We have ID's which isn't that bad, but it's almost imposable to meet there dress code. We also can not have any visable percings exept ears and the earings must be small. Hair has to be a natrul shade as well. So if you want your shild to express them self freely I sugest going to conway schools...
any parent considering vilonia for their child should reconsider. as anyone would tell you, greenbrier has the better school. therefore I would strongly suggest that when looking for a great school to send your child, look no further than just a few miles down the road at the town of greenbrier.
Vilonia Public Schools just don't meet up to the standard my child is receiving in North Richland Hills. This school doesn't offer enough enriched or AP classes and there isn't as much opertunity to succeed in the real world.
