My daughter attends Theo Vic and loves it! The teachers really care about the students. She had greatly developed in her education since attending this school.

My children had the privilege of attending TVE last year, and then due to unfortunate circumstances had to transfer to Phelan Elementary. I can say without a shadow of a doubt that TVE is the best school in the high desert. The teachers and staff are awesome. I am taking my children back this year.

Principal Mitchell is very dedicated. She strives very hard to help the students achieve their academic goals. Principal has an open door policy and listens very reflectively. Most of the staff is concerned about providing the students wtih the highest level possible. The majority of the students seem very happy and inclined to learn. I am very pleased with the progress Ted Vick has made being a new school and all.

I think theodre vick is a good school. My kids have improved alot in school since whe moved up here. The before and after school tutoring is great but I think it should be a litlle bit longer.

Now that Ted Vick Elementray has entered its 3 school year it has met or exceeded my expectations. The principal really does try to make sure each and every student excels and that each are meeting their academic potential. The addition of an Education Manager was a wonderful addition. Rotation of students based on academic performance is an excellent way to continually develope their skills in reading and math.

The staff is the most concerned I've seen at a school. No problem is to small for the pricible and her door is always open. Even the kindergarderns have her full atten. Its absolutly wonderful.

About the tests


In 2012-2013 California used the California Standards Tests (CSTs) to test students in English language arts in grades 2 through 11; math in grades 2 through 7; science in grades 5, 8 and 10; and history-social science in grades 8 and 11. Middle and high school students also took subject-specific CSTs in math and science, depending on the course in which they were enrolled. The CSTs are standards-based tests, which means they measure how well students are mastering specific skills defined for each grade by the state of California. The goal is for all students to score at or above proficient on the tests.

The different student groups are identified by the California Department of Education; if there are fewer than 10 students in a particular group in a school, the state doesn't report data for that group.

  • Theodore Vick School is more than just a school where students come to learn. Our focus is on the family and how we can build relationships with our families to provide the best educational environment we can for our students. Our office staff is friendly and helpful and the Principal has an open door policy, inviting parents to come in whenever they have a concern about their child's social and academic well being. We work hard to ensure that our families feel welcomed at TVE. We have several opportunities for parents to participate in their child's education, including our parent organization (PTSA), our School Site Council (SSC), our English Learner Advisory Council (ELAC), and through our family involvement activities, including Geography Night, Fall Festival, Read Across America, Literacy Night, Math and Science Night, AVID Spaghetti Night and our parent education program which includes classes on cake decorating, women's health issues and English as a Second Language classes.
