This is a highly reccommended school. The teachers sre wonderful, and the curriculum is excellent .

Great principal, great teachers, strong PTA leadership and great classroom volunteerism. Happy kids, nice campus, some afterschool activities, community very comfortable with cultural and socio-economic diversity. test scores improving consistently but sense that teachers are not teaching to the tests but really trying to educate the kids. Lum school is a hidden jewel in the AUSD .

We believe that we are very lucky to be at such a diverse school with a great staff and faculty. My children come home happy, and teachers really work hard and are successful getting messages to the parents. Keep up the good work! Go Bears!

A really great school with caring teachers and a wonderful principal! My son is very difficult with some emotional problems - the school is being instrumental in helping him work through it and become an outstanding student! Huge progress in just 6 mos!

Donald D. Lum is the best elementary school in Alameda. The teachers and staff there honestly care about their students. The office staff will go out of their way to help both parents and students when needed!

Lum is a great school that reflects the ethnic diversity of Alameda like no other school in the district. They do great things with a diverse set of kids along both ethnic and socio-economic lines. The teaching staff is making great strides towards deep collaboration across grade levels and formative assessments throughout the year to target areas needing the most improvement in student achivement. Lum is a great place for your kids.
