As a students in 7th grade, I think this school is phenomenal. I disagree with the parents that gave the school a one star. I think the teachers are great there. Most of the teachers went to UC Berkeley and one of the 2nd grade teachers (who is still there) went to Yale. It is true though that there is a homework starting from kindergarten but it does prepare you for years to come. I don't think the teachers are too strict but more strict than public schools. Since this is a small school we get to interact and have a more personal experience. At CCS I was never exposed to bad language nor violence. Bullying is not tolerated nor bad behavior. The school does instill Christian beliefs but teachers don't force you to believe in the religion. From kindergarten to 8th grade all students are taught Mandarin. There are many educational field trips as well as special occasions. The facilities there are quite new and the lunches are hot, nutritional, and different everyday. If you do have issues, the principals are very open minded to what you have to say and they make change. As a student almost graduating from the school I highly recommend sending you children to Chinese Christian School.
Before writing this, I looked at all the reviews. I have seen the negatives at CCS for a long time, and trust me as a parent at CCS for several years, I can relate to all the negative things people are pointing out. A lot of the teachers in this school show no compassion when it comes to punishment and look for any micro mistakes the kids make to punish them (i.e. little whispering, walking on the lawn, leaning against the wall, etc.). It basically feels like a prison. What is especially shocking to me is the lack of communication and cooperation in the school system. Any problems that you may have from this school cannot be addressed to the staff because they will pay minimal attention to your problems. They are interested in conducting their punishment first rather than investigating it. The elementary school is poorly run with low quality teachers and staff that literally stuffs religion down students' throats. If you re not Christian, CCS and its students will do whatever they can to make you feel like an outsider. I especially would not recommend your children to attend elementary school here because CCS s Christian model is not ideal for a lot of children s development.
As an alumnus of both the elementary, middle, and highschool of CCS, I find this school to be extremely over rated. The quality of the education, teachers, and administration has decreased significantly over the years i attended and continues to do so. The school is more concerned about maintaining its "reputation of excellence" than actually providing the best educational environment possible with the students in mind. Great students excel, and mediocre students suffer being left behind. The amount of homework is beyond what most students can handle realistically. Though the school does live up to its "college preparatory" rigorousness, the reality of the quality of this school no longer matches with its "golden" reputation. I suggest to all parents to seek another school to place your children. This place is not it.
I have two daughters attending CCS. This is our third year at this school. My children absolutely love this school. They are always excited about going to school everyday and the education they are receiving is exceptional. Great School!!!
My daughter has just entered her third year at CCS and there hasn't been a day that I don't thank God I found this place. The teacher's are very loving and take their role as educators seriously. Class size is pretty small at less than 20 students and the children are challenged academically as well as spiritually. The campus is beautiful, safe, inviting and is becoming more diverse each year.
Beautiful campus! great teachers, structured academic programs, supervised after school care and happy, well mannered students! parents are also very involved..because we all want our kids to to do well and have a bright future.
