AOA is a GREAT place for students of all types! The staff is extremely attentive and genuinely cares for each individual child's success. I have seen so many child based decisions and actions taken here that would not take place at other schools, and am so grateful. Do your child a favor and enroll them now!

I have a 6th grader at "AOA", I am so glad that we made the choice to send her to the Academy. Caring teachers that offer interesting course work, meaningful homework and truly have one goal in mind.. to make sure my child succeeds. This school offers a safe environment for my child to learn and make new friends. The uniform is great! I love seeing the kids in the morning riding their bikes across the island in their uniforms. The administration and staff and so enthusiastic and organized and the PTA is highly motivated. The small class sizes are a real plus, I couldn't be more pleased.

I have a 6th grader at the Academy of Alameda. She has had a tremendous start to the new year. She participated in an orientation day before school started during which she was given a tour of the school including a visit to each of the classrooms where she would have a class. The tours were given by 8th graders who had been trained by the staff as mentors for the 6th graders. Because of this orientation, she felt confident about where she was going on the first day of school. Like many kids, she balked at the idea of wearing a uniform to school. After a few weeks of school, it is no longer an issue. Because of the strict enforcement of the policy, it isn't a problem. It's just another of the expectations of the administration. Another thing I like about the Academy is that the teachers really collaborate. Because each 6th grade English/History teacher is paired with a Science/Math teacher, they work together to ensure that there is never too much homework on any given night. There isn't enough space to describe everything that I like about this school. I am thoroughly pleased.
