Meher Montessori-Altadena is one of the best preschools in the area. My daughter graduated this past June after spending 3 wonderful years there. There wasn't a day when she didn't want to go to school. The Montessori education she received there was simply amazing. She started to read right after she turned 4 and was already reading second grade level books before she started kindergarten. The school is small and therefore great for personal attention and care, but it also offers many things that you may not find even at the bigger schools. How many preschools do you know of that brings in petting zoos, pony rides, magic shows, and reptile shows to the campus? Meher offers these and other activities without any additional charges to the parents. The director has been there for almost 30 years and you can tell that she adores the children. Highly recommend this school.

Meher Montessori is a warm, caring, nurturing environment that addresses the development and needs of each individual child. Because Meher's Montessori method allows children to learn and excel at their own individual rate, the children blossom academically, socially and developmentally. Children who complete the Meher preschool program graduate as confident, thoughtful students who are usually several years above age level in their reading and math skills. It is typical for their 5-6 year old students and graduates to be proficient in multiplication, division, reading and writing. In addition to it's academic strength, the principal Mrs. Hyde makes school fun with well organized and creative special programs, and events.

About these ratings

The Community Rating is the school’s average rating from its community members (e.g., parents, students, and school staff). The highest possible rating is five stars; the lowest is one star.

We currently do not have any test score information for this school. Unlike public schools, private schools are not always required to report data about their schools or not required to take the same tests as public schools. Many private schools take different standardized tests; however, that information is often made available only to families of enrolled students. We strive to acquire additional private school data whenever available.
