My children have attended AVCS for 3 years now and are thriving, where they were not in the public school. With the current curriculum, they are learning and retaining, and able to work at a pace where they do not feel that they are being condemned because they understand a topic faster than another student, or on the other side, they can take their time to really learn the topic and understand it. The teachers are absolutely fantastic, loving, patient and encouraging. They take the time to help each of the students and show a tremendous amount of love for the school, the students, and the families. I love that the school encourages the community to get involved and the students to get involved with the community. They are encouraged to explore artistic interests such as photography, sewing, woodworking, cooking, to name a few. The students that are over the age of 18 go to the regional conference to participate with other students in competitions ranging from singing, ventriloquism, sports, crafts, academic accomplishments, and public speaking. Overall, a great school and extremely pleased.
I am very happy for my three children to be at this school, where God is foremost in the education. The teachers are loving and caring, all the children have become like a family, the older ones taking care of the younger ones, a wonderful commoradorie exists. There are great parents who are very involved. We are blessed to have such a good school in our small community
Small school with individualized attention given to the students. Much needed change of staff for elementary in 2008/2009 school year brought great improvement to the school. Current teacher will return for the 2009/2010 school year.
Does not use parent input when making major decisions. Made major changes to curriculum and staff without consulting parents even when parents were happy with the school.
