i really think parents need to know that the wait list for this school is not worth the wait! beyond K-5 the novelty of this so-called "great school " will slowly wear off and you will see it major flaws when your children are at a crucial time going into their early teen years. the school cant get or keep quality teachers ,couselors/staff. phone calls & e-mails go un-returned.the big thing also to remember here at this school is status status status ! grades are great but they are far less important when you have plenty of money & play sports! but remeber if you want to do that make sure you get in good with the coach . and since many of the staff also have children of there own attending the school, youve got to also make sure your children befriend their children and all will be well . otherwise goodluck getting in with the in crowd . in all my years i have only seen the likes of what i have described here in movies or on tv . this school really puts the icing on the cake for discriminatory practices and favoritism . and just to clarify i am and have been a parent of honor roll students that are very athletic. i just feel the truth should be told .
I have two boys at AAE. 9th grade and 12th grade. This is our 6th year at the school. We are all very happy with this school. Yes, like others have mentioned, there has been a problem in the math department. But I think this has been solved with the dismissal of one of the teachers. She was a weak link and set the kids up for future problems. I see a staff and an administration always looking to improve for the students benefit. Love love the video department ran by Mr. Orsinelli. My freshman is enjoying band and ROTC. My senior is having a great year so far. His teachers make the classes interesting. Love this school. Keep up the great work AAE!!!!
This school has far exceeded my expectations. So worth the wait. They provide such individualized instruction it feels like my child is the only one in attendance. I love how friendly they are and their focus on safety. They really push for teaching independent learning and teach the values of respect and cooperation. I could not be happier
Great school. My kids attend this school one in 3rd and one in 1st. The teachers are the kindest most dedicated group you will find. Our parents are involved and pay attention to their kids. We have imperfections, but they are far outweighed by the greatness of our school.
This is the best school in the valley. We have three children that attend and they all love it.
Love, love, love this school. The staff has been incredible with my girls....I commute 30 miles each way and would never go back to the local school in my area.
This school is horrible. The majority of the teachers are rude and the students are disrespectful. This is officially the worst school in the history of the universe.
This is a great school! The Teachers and staff at this school truly care about the students. This school has the best students you will ever meet.
Love this School! Love and Logic really works! Teachers and Staff are the best, very respectful and professional.
My daughter is in 1st grade, and I wouldn't have her anywhere else. I love the close group of people who work and attend here. They are always accessible and friendly to talk to. They are truly caring about all the students and very committed. I also love the discipline and that the kids wear uniforms. These days it's sad to see how some kids dress. I would recommend AAE to anyone who wants their child to have a good education.
My child has been on the "list" for AAE since 6 months old. I have been very happy with all of the teachers my child has had so far, and all of the teachers I have had any dealings with while volunteering at the school. Almost every parent I have been in contact with is kind and friendly. There is a HUGE parent population that is ready to volunteer, and be active in their kids lives. That part is great. The only fault I find is... Some of the office staff (on the K-4 levels), are usually pretty rude to the parents. So much so, that it is common knowledge that you are going to be ignored or talked down to by the secretaries. It's a pretty unnecessary power trip some of them have.
I have twin boys in the third grade at Academy for Academic Excellence in Apple Valley Ca. They have been attending here since kindergarten. My sister is a school teacher at another school in our district and made me put my twin boys on the list for this school at age 2. I love the school and how its ran. The parents are the best. The classroom sizes are smaller than other schools, because we are a Charter School, it seems Parents care more about their children s education. I feel very blessed to have the kind and caring staff we have.
A great, safe school. Wouldn't go anywhere else but would like to see improvements in the math and science depts. Some of the H.S. teachers are so lazy and just should not be teaching at all. Elementary teachers are beyond awesome. Kids are all nice, love the amount of parent support.
Great school I love it my kids love this school I hope this school is 5
So far I really love this school. Our kids have been here for 3 years now. We are about to have a Kindergartener, 3rd grader, and a 5th grader. The teachers have been amazing. They reply to emails instantly. There are so many parent helpers. It's so nice to see parents who actually care and devote their time to the school. Really looking forward to the 2014-15 school year when they will have K-12 all on one campus!
As a parent and a staff member I am pleased with the school culture as well as with the comradely between the staff and administration. Two of my children have attend the AAE (one graduated in 2007 and the other will graduate in 2015). The AAE is a small school, only 400+ students at the HS level makes for fewer course choice but smaller class sizes. Some subject teams are stronger than others but if a student is motivated, they can more than "fill their cup" academically as well as athletically. The "love and logic" approach used in many of the classrooms helps the instructors encourage students to realize and face the consequences of their action on a daily basis. The campus "character development officers" (CDO's) also firmly but gently enforce campus discipline and school policy. Since the AAE is a "school of choice" for many families, students may not like the choices their parents make at first, but I have discovered after teaching at the AAE for 11 years, students quickly learn to appreciate the school safe and friendly atmosphere, finding it easier after a year or two to improve their personal levels of academic performance.
Very safe. Great families. 5th-8th grades have been fine, but HS is a problem, especially in Math & Science. Difficult to get needed help. Many students leave because of the HS teachers. AFJROTC is a strong program. All staff members are very courteous. We have children in MS & HS and we are hoping to stay with AAE to the end with both, but will change High Schools if necessary. This could be a wonderful school with better leadership and a few changes in teachers.
I went to AAE for grades 9-12. I really liked the fact that the classrooms weren't too big. The Literature teachers were all amazing, but the math and science teachers fell short. There were a few teachers that were some of the worst teachers I've ever had in my life (all math and science teachers). Whenever there were some rowdy people in class the teachers wouldn't really do anything about it, therefore making it harder for others to learn. Overall I had a good experience, especially my senior year. Those teachers were the best!
the school is very tough and will help your child. Some activities during school however are very challenging and difficult but with time your child will understand what is being is given to him/her to learn and understand.
You left out the award winning Air Force Junior ROTC program. Since AAE AFJROTC started up in January 2007, the program has earned the following awards: 2008-2009 AFJROTC Distinguished Unit 2009-2010 AFJROTC Distinguished Unit with Merit 2010-2011 AFJROTC Distinguished Unit with Merit 2011 AFJROTC Outstanding Instructor with Merit 2011 AFJROTC Officer Instructor of the Year
