I love Mariana Elementary School because my granddaughter is being taught well there and she likes it very much.

I am a parent and I volunteer at this school I am proud to say that my child has the opportunity to learn in Mariana's environment. The standard at this school is, children first! The staff and volunteers/ booster club really do care!!!!

I have 1 child at this school. Although she is only in kindergarten you can see certain things in a school. Mr. Mc Mahon is a great teacher. I am very happy that she is in his class this year. I couldn't ask for a better teacher for my child. The school can only do so much and it is up to the parents to make sure our children are getting what they need. If more parents were involved I am sure they wouldn't be complaining so much. Stop complaining and start doing something about it. Join the booster club and make a difference.

I have 2 children at Mariana. They are 4th and 5th grade now, having spent thier entire school lives at Mariana. I am involved, as are many of my fellow parents. The teachers are ALL great. The front office is excellent. The exception has been in the role of Principal. Do not care for the current one at all. We have had 3 in 4 years. I vote for Mr. Cleary for Principal...He can turn this school into a 10 !!!

My daughter is in the 4th grade every teacher she has had was wonderful however, this school goes through principle left and right the newest Ms. Sims will not deal with you if you disagree with her on something, too many parents complain about non important issues such as where another parent can and can not pick up their child instead of worring about academic achievment or bullies, finally Mariana's test scores are way below the state and district requirements. The teachers so far up to the 4th grade are great considering what they have to deal with such as not enough funding for the school. I would recommend another school if academics is important to you and you want a principle who will listen to all parents.

I love Mariana, I have taught there, and have had my neice, nephew and grandson attend Mariana over the years. It has a great staff, and teachers with the heart to teach. Keep up the great job!

New principal works better with parent's and student's needs, rather than always believing that the teacher is always right. GATE program could be better with more meetings and more field trips that expand student's experiences.

I love this school and recommend it to everyone, my children have really grown here thanks to all the best teachers! The principal is very involved in the goings on and well being of the kids! The staff and parent volunteers are always looking for more ways to make the school an even better place for the children to grow! There is several extra things to help students already, there is music, befor and after school tutoring, Special teacehrs during school to help with the different learning levels! All students get special attention to make sure they are progressing the way they should and not falling behind!

I went to Mariana School myself when I was a little kid, so I know that it is a fantastic school. The principal is great, the teachers are fantastic, and they have wonderful programs that really help the kids out.

I work at Mariana Elementary and love the staff, students and parents. We enjoy the enormous amount of work our Booster Club does for our school. The staff members are like family and the students feel the connection.

About the tests


In 2012-2013 California used the California Standards Tests (CSTs) to test students in English language arts in grades 2 through 11; math in grades 2 through 7; science in grades 5, 8 and 10; and history-social science in grades 8 and 11. Middle and high school students also took subject-specific CSTs in math and science, depending on the course in which they were enrolled. The CSTs are standards-based tests, which means they measure how well students are mastering specific skills defined for each grade by the state of California. The goal is for all students to score at or above proficient on the tests.

The different student groups are identified by the California Department of Education; if there are fewer than 10 students in a particular group in a school, the state doesn't report data for that group.
