I think it's interesting that teachers are married and siblings and daughters are hired, this should not be allowed in a professional workplace. Overall the school is good, but some of the teachers do not like you questioning them, and asking questions, and if you do complain they take it out on your child in class. The elective teachers, such as Cooking, leaves a lot to be desired, she was simply hired as her husband works there. It's a small school and the kids are confined to a small area without much mentoring, so you can see the kids emotionally struggling to survive, without much support, and the teachers, probably jaded, standing by assuming they'll get over it. Middle Schools can have a lasting damaging effect on kids, it would be nice to put some policies in place to help them succeed emotionally, as well as academically.

I am a student in Aptos Jr. The teachers there are great but they need to work on less homework!

This a great school full of dedicated teachers who love their jobs and the kids. The new principal is especially good, and his presence seems to have energized the school to even higher levels.

This school seems to have some terrific science and math teachers! As for the core classes, that is another story in my opinion. Teachers are either overbearing (and overwhelming) or bland (downright boring). I feel that students need to be challenged without being overwhelmed. Also, students need to have teachers who are really passionate about their subjects, which would naturally make our kids want to be in school and learn. But hey, I guess nothing is perfect, although it should be darn close when it involves educating our future adults. So I say, 'Clean up the Core' and this school will have it 'goin on' as far as teachers are concerned. Just my honest opinion.

Teachers need to be careful about the homework load. Parents would like to see their children get to college level without burning out. School has a responsibility to choose homework wisely. Teachers, please lighten up on after school busy work as students have sports, other activities as well as an outside life (with family) too.
