With 60% of the children living below the poverty line, and 3 out of 4 starting school with limited or no English, they have a daunting task in reaching the state standards. But what makes AE a great school can t be measured by scores. They know my children and are genuinely concerned about their welfare. The principal is always available whenever I call with a question or concern, and she has even contacted me at home with things she thinks I should know about. I don t understand how a previous poster can say AE is, hostile to the interests of bright and advanced students. My own experience is exactly the opposite. Their teachers took time before and after school to work with them individually. When they finished first grade curriculum, their teacher started to teach them second grade. I am very happy with this school and the instruction.
We have been in Arbuckel for about 2.5 years now it has done so much for my child with special needs. The teacher's at this school are great educators.
Arbuckle Elementary is hostile to the interests of bright and advanced students. I have four children some at the school and others who are old. I have been told that the teacher's job is to work with the students below grade level, not the ones at or above grade level. I have also been told that it is unreasonable to expect children to learn something everyday at school.
Arbuckle elementary is user friendly for both students and parents. My four children have gone through the program at Arbuckle Elementary and have done well compared to the national averages on standardized tests. Teachers are in tune with community needs and teaching strategies reflect their knowledge of the student population. The administrative staff is genuinely caring and always available to answer questions or direct students and parents to the appropriate authorities that will help facilitate making things happen. Parents are an active part of the school and add greatly to the rich environment in which students are engaged in the learning process. Community members at large also participate in a wide array of activities that lend support to the school. I highly recommend Arbuckle Elementary as A Place to Grow, A Place to Learn, A Place to Be Safe, A Place to Be Proud.
