More interested in building it's test scores than serving all students, including lower achievers who need additional help. Social issues aren't addressed and the less restrictive environment has encouraged negative behaviors. Check the teen pregnancy rate of this school against others, per capita. You'll be amazed.
Someone was complaining about the "special needs" students. I went there and there were/are students there will all kinds of needs. Being one myself I liked that if I needed extra help I could make dates with the teachers after school and ACTUALLY GET IT. At one point I was extremely sick and couldn't leave my own house. Instead of dropping out for a year they worked with me so I had a teacher visiting once a week to take last weeks work and then give me the next weeks. Being a student who had classes with Arcata high too, I some times cringed on going. I liked my classes small and actually knowing my teachers. If you're afraid your child will be turned down because they have problems reading, it won't happen. Just realize that these guys are there and WANT your child to succeed. If you aren't going to care about your child's grade or their behavior than you'll have some problems.
An extraordinary high school, with a dedicated principal and inspired staff. I'd recommend SRCHS to any parent or teen.
Excellent school, is supports children with all sorts of learning disabilities, has high test scores and teachers really willing to go the extra mile for students. They helped me where other high school's couldn't. My biggest regret is waiting before going to this school.
It keeps going downhill. Even the other administrators and local school board members are critical of SRCHS' efforts, and the principal is at the heart of the problems. Do not send your child here.
terrific program, meets needs of ALL students, teachers and principal work with students and parents, secretary is amazing. highly recommend
Grave concerns about the policies of this school. The principal is exclusionary, weeding out students with special needs. Last year there were several issues regarding credits for graduation as well.
great program, saved my high school life. gets to all levels of students, teachers and principal are the best
