As a former student and a current parent of students attending this school. This has and would consider to be my choice of schools for my children. The teaching staff is wonderful for the most part they are all very friendly. Ms. Thompson, Ms. Matthews, Mrs. Lee, Mrs. Quijada, Mrs. Ramos & Mrs. Covacevich I can speak on a personal basis have always gone a extra mile. The principle has a lot on her plate like all others ones but she has improved each year. The office staff is are very involved with the school even for after school events. PTA is small but they help the school tremendously it would be wonderful if more parents and or guardians can make a hour long commitment once a month to the PTA.

I have a daughter in 1st grade and a son in 5th grade. The kind of personal attention that I have seen in this school, I've not seen anywhere earlier. This is helping in daily improvements in all aspects of growth of the kids. They are communicating better, they are improving socially and gaining more confidence by each passing day. We are really thankful to the teachers. Lot of effort on their part !! Excellent work :)

I have been a Kennedy parent for the last 7 years and I have seen the changes-both positive and negative. Fortunately, for the school, most changes have been positive and it is mostly due to the principals dedication to putting Kennedy's name out there with the positive strides and it has made. Her dedication to the staff and students is visible in many aspects of the schools accomplishments these last several years since she started. Kennedy's API has steadily increased, we became a California Distinguished school and we've earned a couple other great recognitions that she lead the school to. She has supported the school PTA and the programs that continue to benefit and enrich the students educational experiences at Kennedy. We don't run a perfect PTA and our principal is not perfect but we have collectively been able to bring many positive changes to Kennedy and we (PTA) have been able to keep our dance/art program and other perks for the students. It wasn't always executed perfectly, with no bumps in the process, but I can say that without the effort of active PTA parents and the support of the principal, Kennedy would not be the wonderfully growing, solid school that it is.

Kennedy has undergone many changes over the last decade. The current principal lacks leadership ability, and the school is suffering as a result. The teachers seem to be caring and dedicated, although there seems to be a certain amount of tension & low morale, possibly due to the lack of leadership. The GATE teachers in particular seem to go above and beyond, expecially since the program has been all but eradicated in this district. The PTA is struggling to overcome the bullying tactics of the current prncipal. Some parents seem to push their agenda and manipulate the principal, others are passive and stay away, and the rest are somewhere in between. The lack of leadership is the greatest fault, and the tendency of the principal to appease certain more vocal or active parents is probably the next greatest fault. One other note is that parent and, consequently, student attitudes have been souring, especially over the last five or so years. In spite of this, the API remains good -- especially when taking into account that Kennedy is now a Title I school. With a change in leadership, Kennedy has the potential to be an excellent school!

Overall, I would recommend this school. When my daughter first attended in 6th grade, the teacher (new) had little control and students lost focus. The teacher is no longer there. However, my second daughter has had a great experience with caring teachers from K to 6th grade who focus on their achievements and academic progress. I gave a 4 star only because I wish they would have handled the unqualified teacher sooner vs. keeping her the entire year. It is difficult to change poor habits my daughter pick-up which I was unaware at the time and transfered to middle school. Watch and monitor your children's grades careful regardless of the school (private/ppublic) they attend.

My daughter absolutely loves going to school. The teacher and staff are very personal and have the best intentions for each and every individual child. I would highly recommend this school to every parent looking for an superb education for their child(ren).

My daughter's first year of school, what a transition and I couldn't have asked for a better teacher Mrs. Morris. The kindergarten took extra time and attention in testing all of the new students to make sure that they were placed appropriately in the right study/ reading groups. My daughter is being challenged at a "1st grade" level on some subjects and yet enjoying her classmates and class setting at the appropriate emotional level. There also is an array of school programs and after school activities that keeps my child happily chatting about what she is doing and will be doing! I am thus far a very happy parent.

Kennedy Elementary is a good school.. There could be more communication between the principle and parents, but it's a good school.. The first grade teachers a really wonderful.. So far the 2nd grade teachers are good too. It's small school.. If you can't afford private school and live in the area, that's the school.. I think.. It's than Cesar Chavez Elem. In Norwalk..

The quality of this school has gone downhill within the past 4 years. I finally transferred my child out and put him in private school for a better education. Since my child has transferred, he has straight A's and improved his math, reading, and spelling abilities and actually loves going to school now.
