My son started KG this year at Nichols. I am very impressed how even the principal was involved with the children. She is outside, before school begins, at the gate helping to direct the kids. She also helps throughout the day. Special care is given to first time students to help them grow into "big kids". At pick-up time the kids are grouped by class, parents must sign out their child for safety. Very organized. We really like his teacher who is very passionate about the children and her job.
Nichols has a good eduactional base, if your child can be taught in the same manner you wre taught. Children are expected to remain silent. The mind is not stimulated to think. Information is inputted. If you enroll your child here, please expect that you will have to stimulate your child's thinking through great literature and conversation that includes more than short answers from your child.
My daughter attended 4th grade at Nichols and her class, along with the other 4th grade classes, class size was at least 36 students, not 22 as stated on the website. There were also days when a substitute teacher could not be found and the class was divided up between the other two 4th grade teachers. Overall, a good school, caring teachers!
