Jacoby Creek School provides a challenging and supportive environment for my child. The teachers are accessible and informative. There is excellent communication about school activities and events from the teachers and the principal. The school has interesting after school enrichment programs for a small fee. Also, there are after school athletics to keep children fit.
The teachers are enthusiastic and the students love learning.
The school is good. But there are a lot of students that have a lot of materialistic ideas and are not always open to other kids coming in.
Being fortunate to be an educator at this school, I am most impressed with my fellow staff members who are professionally equipped and motivated to present their best on a daily basis! The school community is enhanced by supportive and involved parents. The maturity and combined 'know-how' of the staff benefit the students as evidenced in the creative and critical thinkers which come out of Jacoby Creek year after year.
My daughters went to kindergarden and eighth grade at Jacoby Creek School. We really liked the teachers yet found the school to be far too competitive and way too much homework. The school lacks in creativity and all the teachers work out of drab text books. They have very little Art and expression and are lacking in technology in the middle grades.
This is a good school for kids who are self-motivating, there is not a lot of support for kids with various disabilities. I would not send my child to this school if she had a learning disability because it is so competition focused. Some great teachers and some very old school 'tough love' types who should be retiring soon. Too much focus on worksheets and menial tasks, not enough contextual learning.
Great school, lots of participation in science fair, history fair, spelling bees, etc. Good after-school enrichment classes too. Pretty strict on the kids, which I prefer. Lots of parent involvement. They have an annual folk dance festival, musical theatre, and oral language competition.
A great school with excellent teachers. A little too much emphasis on homework and performance.
This a a k-8 school which is considered one of, if not the best elementary school in Humboldt Coutny. It decided to become a charter school in 2002 so that it could ensure its enrollment levels. Because the school is so highly regarded there is usually more children applying than there is room.
