Awesome school! Seems like all the teachers love thier jobs and the kids..that they care if the students succeed and contribute to that success.
Big Bear high is very small and very overcrowded. The teachers are good and they really do prepare the kids for college. Small town, big difference in social classes here. Kids are very good and in general it is a great school. No fancy classes. One good thing is I think over 70% of graduates apply to and go to college. Something is right, my kids did well.
I loved this school so much. I wish I could go back all the time...well to visit. It is an amazing school.
Big Bear High School is a great high school. They have won 3 distinguished school awards, and are waiting for the result of another. Now that Rick Jameson is there, the school is great.
Lots of double standards! Favorites are given priority. Parents can force A.D. and over ride coaches except for football (A.D. coaches) Some staff should not be teaching courses they are teaching as they have no experience nor proper knowledge of given course. School would rather save a few dollars instead of hiring qulified personel. However most teachers do very well. Most teachers work well with students and students do learn.
I am a former student from Big Bear High. I went to three high schools in my four years of high school. I went to BBHS for three of those years. I thought it was a great school. I to this day still keep in touch with my former teachers. One teacher there really touched my life, she cared about her students. I have never had a teacher care and help their students the way this teacher did.
I was a graduate student from big bear high school. I was born and raised in this small community that has given me more opportunities that a larger city probably would have never given me. After high school I went abroad for a year. When looking back at the memories of all my teachers in all my years of education I couldn't have asked for anything better. They taught me so much and were more than just teachers, they were always there if you needed help with understanding the work if it wasn't understandable. I am fortunate enough to have had the bests 4 years of high school and wouldn't change a thing.
As a former student at Big Bear High, and a veteran of 5 high schools, I want to say that this was the best high school I attended. I vividly remember many of my teachers, some of them winners of prestigious teaching awards, as was Mr. Emerson, who mainly taught English classes, but who introduced me to 'Art Appreciation'. When I graduated years later from Berkeley Summa cum Laude in Art History, with my senior thesis published in the Berkeley Undergraduate Journal, I thought of Mr. Emerson when I decided that my next step would be to seek a teaching credential. I don't know what it was about Big Bear High School, but it attracted some incredible teaching talent, and I am a much better person for having attended this excellent school.
