biggs is a bad school n there sports have very bad sportsman ship there jus noo good!
I don't know where those high ratings came from but Biggs Middle/High School is a disaster. Several years ago our family moved to Biggs because we wanted our kids to be in a small town where everyone looks out for each other and the kids have a better opportunity to play on a sports team. Those criteria were met, but the area of academics was more than disappointing. Couple inadequate teaching with low moral and staff disunity and you get some unmotivated, distracted kids who are not prepared for even our junior college where most of the curriculum is at 9th grade reading level. It is so disheartening that Biggs High, with so much potential, is such a disappointment - the kids loose.
The greatest benefit to Biggs High School is the incredible amount of community and parent support. It is common for BHS fans to outnumber hometown fans at away games for sporting events. The sports facilities, for a school of this size, far outshines any other team played. Academically, the school stresses college after high school. A high percentage of graduates intend to attend college. Of the recent graduating class, only 2 of 56 are not planning on college or military. Art and music programs are deficient and almost non-existent.
Biggs high school deffinetely rates high for being a friendly relatively safe learning environment compared to what many students face today. I went there after transfering from a larger school and found the other students there to be more genuine and accepting than I had experience in my first school. On the other hand, the level of instruction was quite a bit lower than the previous school I had attended. Also there was a noticeable lack of electives and available technology options. Even though, the teachers tended to be more relatable and accessible if not as advanced and competent. I feel that the superior quality of relationships between teachers and students and students to students did in some ways make up for the lower standard of teaching. If you do attend here you'll feel better about yourself, but may have to supplement your education with courses at the local JC.
From: Heidi Lee (aka grifith) mr.vandro is the best principle. most of the teachers are really cool. others have their days. bye.
