My son is just finishing up his first year at BB School. He enjoys the environment and the other children, but isn't being engaged enough and is drifting off in class. My spouse and I both agree that the school is in need of new teachers-perhaps younger, more energentic, nurturing and a little less stressed out. We currently live in the area and moving him to a new school would be a hardship, but it is one that we are seriously considering. Looking at Occidental and Sebastopol for the Fall of 2013.
Would have to respectfully disagree with above reviews. I currently have three children attending the school, as well as after school program. This is our 4th year there. Personally, I dont think you could pay for a better education/educational experience. The school is very small, and the children all receive much attention. The two main teachers are both incredible, as are all the staff. Everyone is dedicated to making sure each student succeeds. One of my children has challenges and receives appropriate support at all times. In addition to the wonderful staff, there are incredible volunteers who consistently support the children. Fieldtrips and outings vary from year to year but have been diverse and exciting for the children. While the principal is mainly off site, I still rate "leadership" at 5 stars because the school runs efficiently and effectively with the staff on campus. I just wish my kids could stay in this type of nurturing environment thru highschool!
Small school with big heart. The Student Body, though small, is quite diverse. Teachers, support staff, PTA and numerous volunteers seem more than eager to accomodate, assist and encourage each individual student. We are extremely happy with the academic and social advancement our child has made. The learning environment is wonderful, and the extracurricular programs/outings are memorable.
There is no extra help for children who may need it. It is a school with 3 grade levels in one classroom. K thru 2nd grade teacher is wonderful. I left many phone calls for the principle and never had a call returned.
A very small school, 40 children separated into 2 classrooms. K-2 in one room and 3-5 in the 2nd room. The k-2 teacher is exceptional however has much on her plate and cannot keep in touch with you as much as could be done to be on top of your child's educational progress. There is a satellite principal who is there 1 day per week so there is not strong administrative support for any conflict resolution. Could be a great school when newer, open-minded teachers are hired, but driving to Sebastopol or Guerneville a better choice.
