St. Finbar School

St. Finbar is a very unkind school, with unkind, and non-credentialed teachers. My child had two teachers here that yelled, slammed things, and humiliated the children in the class. My daughter graduated from here and had minimal problems as she was quiet, but others were taunted by the teachers. My son however I removed from the school in 1st grade after being completely humiliated in front of the class by the teacher. Terrible teachers in general, but they keep them.

My son is in Kindergarten at St Finbar and his teacher exceeds my expectations on a daily basis. She responds quickly to our requests after hours and its clear she genuinely enjoys her job and cares for the kids and their success. The class size is small and allows for hands on with each child, her learning plan is challenging for the kids both in class and in after school work. The leadership at the schools is exactly where it should be, front and center. He knows everybody s name, both kids and their parents, and he runs a tight ship. The kids love him and it s very clear by all the opportunity created for the kids that he is leading an amazing program. If you re looking for a tight knot community like school where not only the kids but also the parents receive support then St Finbar is for you.

St. Finbar is a school whose principal works hard towards the overall development of your child, whose faculty is commmitted to teaching and also safeguarding your child, and whose parents are very interactive in their children's lives and very involved in meeting the school's goals. At last night's PTO meeting, the principal presented results of the ITBS testing, which clearly graphed how St. Finbar students are well above-average academically. Each year, these results are studied to prepare a curriculum that addresses the students' weaknesses and hones their strengths (details will be posted on school's website). Then one of the parents, a local police officer, spoke about his work experiences relating to school bullying. He introduced and gave advice about tech-bullying or e-bullying prevalent in schools today. A teacher also gave a mini-training on the safety of children. St. Finbar is a strong school intent on giving your child the best experience.

Saint Finbar is a great school if you are looking for a quaint, structured environment for your child. My child is encouraged to thrive and express her uniqueness. The teachers are wonderful and the children learn academics, art, music. They also start to learn Spanish and French in the 3rd. grade. The extra curricular activities offered are drama, chess, piano, violin just to name a few. They encourage respect, discipline and honestly and contain a diverse background of cultures within the school. In addition, you do not have to be Catholic to go to the school, it is open to all.

We have had a fabulous experience in our years at St. Finbar. There are ample opportunities for extra curricular activity offered throughout the year. The children are challenged in every way and rewarded for their hard work and academic excellence. There were some problems in our class early on when there were a couple of kids with behavioral and academic deficiencies...but now that they have moved on, our school is thriving. The new building is going to be great. We love St. Finbar!

We have been at St. Finbar for several years and it is fantastic! The teachers are great and all children are recognized for their strengths and given opportunities to shine. Some reviews varied from ours but there are people who don't see that their child has learning disabilities or behavioral problems and they need special educational help and are better served being in public education. But for average and above average kids this is a great place to learn.

i really enjoyed my time here at st. finbar , i was a student there for 7 yrs and i just graduated this yr. I learned so many important , wise , great things from the greatest teachers . Most of all i have great cherished memories forever from this school. The education is the best ! Most importantly i learned about my faith, Catholisism and God ,St. finbar helped me practiclly raised me this far in life ....

This is an amazing little school. Unlike many public schools the children have art and music once or twice a week all year long and self-expression is highly encouraged. Although they don't have every sport there are many sports activities to choose from along with other free after school programs . There is a band, choir and violin and piano are offered. The students and parents are expected to perform service hours to the school and community and participation in fundraising is a must. Like any school there will always be disgruntled former parents and students whose personality or agenda are not suited to such a structured environment, but if you are looking for a complete package combined with moral instruction this could be the school for you.

Excellent school. Great academics and personal growth opportunities for students. Classes are varied and academically challenging. Parents are very involved. Music and Art technique and history is taught at all grades. Small personal environment that is not for those who are not committed to developing both the moral and academic values of their children.

This is a great school! The kids have variety in their day. Learn the meaning of respecting one another. The communication between the parents and teachers is excellent! Everyone here is extremely friendly -including other parents! They have a library, an art department, computers! The school offers extracurricular activities such as chess, golf, music (this is not offered in a lot of schools) and dance.

St. Finbar is an excellent school. We have been involved there for over 10 years and it has always been strong academically and with a strong moral emphasis, but in the last few years it has truly stepped up the extracurricular activities. They are really striving to have something for everyone. It is truly a great place to be.

To describe my child's experience at this school in one word would be horrible! The academics of the school was so low that my child wasn't challenged at all. The teachers favor certain children over others. I am only writing this because my child wasted a year & i am trying to save another child from making this mistake. I hope this has helped you in making your decision.

I strongly advise against sending your children to this school. They attempt and strive to brutally stamp out any independence, originality, or self-expression at its first sign of life. The children aren't allowed any sort of opinion. Please do your children right an avoid this horrible pit of a school at any and all costs.

Parents are involved a lot. However, there isn't a lot of availability for extracirricular activities, just basic sports.
