My child started into K reading, but only advanced beyond his starting level because of my efforts at home. Equally disappointing was the 2nd grade program (apparently a known under performing grade). In previous years, the teachers provided recess supervision. The new leadership is problematic and needs to be held accountable for the decline in academic performance and morale. Safety is a concern.

I think it's hard for some parents in this area to accurately rate schools because they have no basis for comparison. My 2 children attended TL for SY 06-07. One teacher was fantastic, one was awful. The principal did nothing to manage the situation with the awful teacher, classroom did not open on time, no teamwork in the classroom an overall poor learning environment. Star tests showed what I was concerned with; my child was not challenged. I am considering an inter-district transfer. The school board/superintendent needs to hold this principal accountable and that is not happening.

Tierra Linda is a great school. The parents are very involved and eager to put in time at the school in their child's classroom. I am very impressed with the academic program that they have here at the school. My son enjoys going to school.

High expectation level. Safe School. Caring experienced teachers. Draw back: Very Bright children are not allowed to learn at their own pace. They are held back with the rest of the students in their class.

This is a wonderful school! The Principal, Mrs. Bjordahl, is intelligent, hard working and caring and most of the teachers are of the same mold. Students are held to high expectations, yet children are treated with dignity and kindness.

Tierra Linda is a good school. As the parent of a bright child, I'm concerned that the majority of teacher time is spent on the slower children. I suppose that this is a national problem now, caused by 'No Child Left Behind'. The flip side is 'No Child Gets Too Far Ahead'.

My twin daughters attended Tierra Linda for four years, from K through 3rd grade. It's an excellent school! I was so enamored of it that I later became a teacher there. The administration is very strong. The teaching staff is superb--skilled, approachable, caring, and appropriately demanding. Tierra Linda--its staff and administraiton--has alwasys placed an emphasis on early literacy. Also, character is promoted through Tierra Linda's approach to discipline; tolerant of individuality--ethnicity, full-inclusion students, students' varied interests-- and intolerant of any sort of bullying or cruelty. It's wonderful! Lots of parent voluntarism and high test scores to boot!

My daughter has gone to Tierra Linda for 3 years and we are very pleased with it. The teachers and staff are very dedicated and there is also a very high level of parent involvement, both in extracurricular and classroom activities.
