Our kids have attended this school for a few years, parents are awesome, but our kids were not happy, to the point that several times our kids will come crying and scared, the mayority of teachers are overly authoritarian and have a tendency to bully the children, I volunteer frequently because I have heard from the mouths of students how afraid they are oftheir teachers., Teachers are unwilling to spend the necessary one on one time with the kids when they need a little more attention to learn and develope, they seem to be more focus on punitive actions, they tend to label children early on, we have approach the principal several times to find out that no matter what she will support the teachers with out properly resolving the issues., there is a mayor campaign to collect money on top of tuition and church donations, you are better off in a public school the academics are fare (not good) but the emotional toll on kids is not worth it.
My son has attended St Patricks since kindergarten and is now in the third grade. Every year I ask him if he wants to continue his education there or attend onother school in the area and every year he chooses St Patricks. Very telling in my opinion...
It's not really a Christ centered school, just a private school. Do not recommend if you are looking for a religious education.
St.Pats has always given my children a very loving and Christ- Centered area to learn. They have EXCELLENT teachers and a great Student Government ( ASB). My child is in his last year, his 8th grade year and has loved his schooling at St. Patrick Catholic School.
OMG. Kids break bones here, and the bitter lunch ladies do nothing for the child, and the 1st grade teacher is so clueless, that she doesn't realize the 7 year old little kid has a BROKEN ARM. Don't have your child attend this school unless you want her to be around uncaring beasts.
I have been very happy with St. Patrick School. One of my kids has graduated from St. Patrick's and gone on to high school very prepared for the acedemics. My kids are receiving a strong moral and catholic education as well. It's more like a family atmosphere than a school. Everyone comes together when any family experiences a crisis. It's a beautiful environment. My kids never dealt with bullying at St.Pats. If there was unkind behavior it was nipped in the bud. In my experience, the few kids who claimed to be treated unkindly by classmates and left the school ended up BEING the students who were being unkind to other kids. The parents were snowed by them. That's my experience. I must say that no matter where you go you will have a teacher who doesn't fit you child along the way, another student you're child doesn't get along with, and a class that your child doesn't do well in. Everyone needs to find a good fit for their own family wherever that is. But, when considering a school, check it out for yourself before just taking someone elses opinion
This is our fourth year at St. Patricks and our children are thriving. The teachers are amazing and the families really care for one another. Every school has issues, but I have always taken them to the teacher or the administration and have been pleased with the response. Academically, these students go on to Cathedral Catholic and Carlsbad High School continuing to excel in honors classes. The bar is raised high and students are expected to reach it. This school provides a wonderful Catholic Education and cares for all students. As a military family we are pleased at how we were welcomed on day one and how our children never felt like the new kids. Be an involved parent/family and you will not be disappointed.
Considerably better than the public schools in the area, especially Kelly Elementary School. Has an impressive computer lab and a second language is introduced in Kindergarten. Prospective parents consider that security at St. Pats is better than many of the local schools including Kelly Elementary.
In response to people leaving the school because of tough academics; I am sure this is the reason for some, however we have seen several families leave because of poor leadership, and lack of Catholic Values. As with any school, some teachers are tough while others are easy.
All my children went to St. Patrick School. We tried a public school first and there is no comparison. The loving atmosphere, rigorous academics, strong sense of community and family are all very evident at St. Patricks. You will love this school!
This is the best Catholic education on all levels. Love this school, we've been to another Catholic school in the area and this is our 'home'.
I just found this site! As a parent of two kids, we are proud to be a part of this community. The other review surprised me, about the 'lack of faith.' Our school had two mass attendances this week, Friday as always, and Wednesday for St Patricks Day. Each day begins with prayer, Religion is its own subject every day; there are scriptural tests on Friday. We have a strong Moms in Touch group and are always in the midst of a charity (Holy Childhood Assoc). The academics are tough; the families that I have seen leave the school have left because of academic struggles. Public schools simply offer more support for outside and special resources. The other funny comment about social status. The nearby public school has more affluent families than us! My husband and I both work full time but also help out in the classroom each week. Blessings!
This is going on 12 years with both of my kids starting in Kindergarten all the way to 8th grade. The school community is almost an extended family with all the parents looking out for everyone's child. The kids are brought up with faith and to be good citizens and respectful children. Because it is a private school, they don't have to be politically correct. Some parents do not like that. The academics and sports are great and the teachers want to be there. I will pay to have my children go there!
Our daughter attended St. Pats for 7 years. We saw that the academics and leadership were lacking early on, however we kept here there thinking stability is key. Now that we pulled her out and she is attending a different Catholic school we see how bad St. Pats really was! The principals are lack leadership and cannot seem to agree on certain issues. The academics are poor! Also, their standards are low all around. Bullying has always been an issue at t. Pats and for some reason the principals cannot get a handle on it.
Our daughter just started her fourth year at St. Pats and I must say she is absolutely thriving!! How another parent can knock the academics is amazing to me. Comparing her work to other neighbors in public school she seems to be at least 1 to 2 grades ahead in curriculum. Her teachers thus far have been very dedicated, supportive and helped my shy daughter develop into a confident caring young lady. The St. Pats community is like a giant family. We have made life long friends that share our morals and values. They show our children that it is important to grateful in what we have and give back to others in need. Obviously, I can't say enough and can't imagine a better place for your child to learn.
We have been at this school for several years now and we are thrilled with the academic and Christian environment. I have a child in the lower grades and one in the upper grades and they are both happy and secure and I am pleased with their progress. Compared with freinds in the public schools, I would say that St. Patrick's is more academically challenging. What passes for an advanced course in the public schools is just a regular class at St. Pat's. They are also very welcoming to military families.
Academics are POOR! If you want your child to succeed in High School do not send them here! The principals are arrogant and let kids who break severe rules stay, a lot of bulling going on as well. They do nothing to improve the academics.
This is the most amazing school that my kids have been to in there lives. My husband is always traveling, so we are always at different schools, but so far this has been the best. I am incredibly amazed at how well they teach religion, math, science, art and everything! I have 4 children there, and they have never been this smart becuase they are challenged. At St. Patricks you are working above grade level at a faster pace then most public schools! They won 1st place in there academic decathelon, and work so hard at everything they do. The paretns are all incredibly nice and welcoming, th teachers are a little strict but take pride in what they do. I could not have asked for a better school!
I've had kids at St. Pat's over the last 10 years and have no complaints. The parent involvement is outstanding, and there is a healthy sense of community throughout. Yes, every year there is one parent who thinks they have been wronged and pulls their kid out (see reviews below) but that probably happens at every school in America - I'll blame the parents, not the kids/school. Even though it's a Catholic school, they don't overdo it on pushing the religion. The tuition is a bargain if you ask me - $5,531 per year, and if you go to church regularly it's only $4,099 per kid. Most of the teachers have been there for years, even though they could make more money at a public school. Their dedication is admirable! My kids have been well-served at St. Patrick School, and I highly recommend it.
