I really don't know where to start. I have had both of my sons go to this school and at this time neither are attending here. My oldest went here for Kinder to 2nd grade. His teachers were wonderful, even with the frustration you can see they have to deal with everyday. Budget cuts, lack of parent involvement, ect. But they did make miracles happen and the kids were happy. Ok 2nd grade starts, I walk into my sons class ( he was a few minutes late). Mrs White (yes I am calling her out) is yelling at the kids, class just started! A little boy who did not know English all that well is crying and she is yelling. Well I spoke to the principle....normal excuses. She is just there for a paycheck. I cannot assist in my sons class my anxiety is too bad. I donated $50 worth of supplies to the class, I just wanted a thank you. Nothing more, I barly got that from Mrs White. Thank God my son was transferred out of this school 2 days later. Mind you this is still the first week of school. Currently, my youngest son enters Kinder, his teachers are wonderful. But there are 37 kids in the class. So my son is lucky enough to be transferred to Del Dayo with his big brother. The end

My son has gone to this school for 3 1/2 yrs, he has had 2 really awesome teachers, (1 teacher for 2 yrs cause he was held back)the vice principal has also been really great. My son is no angel, he has had his fair share of sitting in the office, but not once did i feel like these people gave up on him. The academics were always very balanced and when he wasn't where he should be I got great advice on whether or not to hold him back which I did. The only thing that worries me is the middle school being so close. I have been very happy with the overall staff at this school also.

My son has been going to this school for two years. He is the kind of child that needs more one on one than most. So far his 5th and 6th grade teachers have been worthless in that reguard. If your child needs a little more one on one Starr King is not for your child.

My daughter has been going to this school for a few years, I do not feel that they are helping her in the way that she needs. This is a very standard school, if your child may need a little more one-on-one attention this is not the school for them.

I was nervous about my son starting Kindergarten at this school as some of the academic scores were lower than surrounding schools. Well, he has the most wonderful teacher, wonderful teacher's aides and staff and a great school with many family activities and special events and awards for the children. I am very pleased with the school. Additionally, the teacher is careful to keep advanced work available for my son so he won't get bored. It is extra work for her to create a special lesson plan for the small group of advanced kids but she does a wonderful job. The kids are also all very nice and well-behaved.

About the tests


In 2011-2012 California used the California Standards Tests (CSTs) to test students in English language arts in grades 2 through 11; math in grades 2 through 7; science in grades 5, 8 and 10; and history-social science in grades 8 and 11. Middle and high school students also took subject-specific CSTs in math and science, depending on the course in which they were enrolled. The CSTs are standards-based tests, which means they measure how well students are mastering specific skills defined for each grade by the state of California. The goal is for all students to score at or above proficient on the tests.

The different student groups are identified by the California Department of Education; if there are fewer than 10 students in a particular group in a school, the state doesn't report data for that group.
