My daughter went to this school when she was 2. The teacher was forcing her to write. I asked the teacher if it was typical for a 2 year old to write their name and she said yes. When my child's birthday came around, the teacher thought she was turning 4. There are developmental milestones for each age and FORCING a child to do something beyond that milestone is absolutely unnecessary. Also, while the kids play, there is a lack of supervision. I picked up my child early plenty of times just to see the person supervising sitting down and reading a book. Till this day, my daughter remembers her teacher as the one who yelled a lot and was really mean. The administrator is hardly there. This isn't a true Montessori school.
My son attended this school for 4 years. The staff is excellent and he excelled academically. Would highly recommend this school.
I'm kinda puzzled by some of the reviews about Carson Montessori. I went there back in the 80's and have just finished with my son attending there from age 2 thru 6. Although we attended more than 25 years apart, we both loved our time there. I and Jeremy learned more than just the basics. At Carson, we learned to think for ourselves and helped to build a strong self-confidence. I am always happy to recommend it to my friends and neighbors.
Love this School! I attended when I was a small child in the early 1990's and I feel Ive benefitted all the more for it. I can't say that the same staff and therfor the same level of teaching is still there but when i attended it was a 1st rate school. It helped to produce well rounded and culturally diverse indiduals. I STILL remember learning french, while making tameles in a cooking class and venturing into the beautiful world of classical music and being able to pin point instruments, notes and cords! This school helped to make me the college youth I am today, thanks CMA!
My daughter attended for 6 months, way too long. Only lunch option is McDonalds daily or bring your own. The 2-3 yr teachers are great but the building is run down, they told me they couldn't hold the spot so I had to enroll her so I did it and kids kept coming and going the entire time. If you do early drop off or late pick up the teachers are awful, neglectful and not well educated. Now that I have her in a great preschool I realize just how disorganized and sub-standard it is.
The school has been there for over thiry years and I attended the school when I was younger. I have sent my kids there because they do an excellent job of teaching. The level of each class is like a grade above what it is in public school. I would recommend this school to anyone!
The administrator is hardly ever there. The school is not the same as other montessori schools. There is no real emphasis on education. The teachers don't seem trained to teach in the montessori way and I don't think that it will give the students an advantage over others by attending there.
My 3 kids have are in this school and I have been using it for 3 years. Let the appearance not fool you. It is a wonderful school but I think my eldest son going to 5th grade would be disadvantaged because he is the only one returning this academic session. I do not think he would be challenged enough.
Excellent school, I highly recommend it.
It doesn't seem as if CMA has an advantage over other public schools. Classrooms are crowded, teachers are not qualified to teach and the front office is very unorganized.
