I attend CVHS currently, and it's a great environment to be in. I am in the school Orchestra, which is really wonderful. The sports are engaging - CVHS is a really great school.

From a staff member- Thank you for your input about CVHS. It is important for us to get feedback. Clearly every school and every school district have their issues- often due to size, $, politics... For those negative comments- please address the problems with the specific concerns/ people. We all care- we would not work in this field if we didn't, but we cannot always meet every need to YOUR satisfaction. Please do not generalize about ALL secretaries or ALL teachers or ALL counselors...

Great facilities and excellent staff. I graduated in 1994 went on to graduate from UC Davis and am now pursuing a law degree at USF. CVHS is an excellent institution for the sciences and writing. Mrs. Paris and Mr. Brewer are examples of two excellent English teachers.

me and my two sisters both attended CVHS and we all enjoyed attending. we were all in sports and also enjoyed that very much!! i also attended two other high school but this school has spirit and fun activities

CVHS is overcrowded like many other schools in CA. However, with a population around 2,000 Castro Valley should add another high school in the community. The overcrowding causes tension among the students. The counselors do not know who their students are and are not very helpful. Parking is an issue and security has a bad attitude. The classes are not preparing students for a 4-year college--more like community college. Overall, CVHS was not a good experience.

I feel the attendance office could be cleaned up and have women in there who care about the students;.I find them abrupt and rude. Questions are sharply answered without any compassion and that applies to parents also.

With all that is going on in other high schools around the country, I feel fortunate that my kids attend CVHS. The instrumental music program is top notch, though the choral music program leaves something to be desired. My kids feel safe there and haven't had too many bad teachers, though there are a few there. I would like to see our rating compared to similar schools increase, a 6 out of 10 is pretty sad. Overall, CVHS has been a very positive place to be.
