So far 2 years into the school I am very pleased with the school. At first I thought was moving a little slow for where my children were from pre-school. Now I find it to be an overall great experience. There is a lot of homework compared to what I remember but times are different. As all of us parents fight through the rigors of corporate America we can only hope that our children are prepared for the future. Living in such a nice community as Cerritos my children will have to develop the drive and street smarts that often is taught by having tougher times and places. As a parent I know that s my job to develop but I can be assured that as my children go through school they will be well ahead of the normal child going through the average system.

This school is excellent! The teachers care so much about the education of our children. The kids are expected to complete a lot of work but because of it they learn so much and are ahead of many kids their age!

This school offers great activities and highlights (like mom-daughter day, dad-son day, sack lunch day where they invite parents to dine with children on campus). However, TOO MUCH HOMEWORK does not mean greater test scores. These children are saddled with 4-6 hours of homework per night (even in 2nd grade!) How can you offer events like sack lunch day to bolster family relationships but then turn around and pile on so much homework that family dinners are IMPOSSIBLE because there is no time due to the overkill homework load?? If they get burned out in elementary school, HOW WILL THEY EVER make it to junior high or high school -- or college? Some teachers seem deaf/blind/dumb when you bring up this issue. I graduated valedictorian from HS and with honors from college. I have a PhD so I know about homework -- and this is TOO MUCH and MEANINGLESS.

Goodness, I don't know what happened to the other person who complained about our wonderful principal. But as far as I'm concerned--with 3 kids at Gonsalves-- Mrs. Ross is the greatest principal. She is very active, polite, prompt, and easy to approach and talk to. She has done a great job and still is doing a great job. Keep it up Mrs. Ross!! If anyone is looking for a great school in Cerritos, look no further and come to Gonsalvez.

I am so disapointed in the principal this year. She has turned a wonderful school into a living nightmare for my child. The teachers are beginning to show the same type of behaviors...this school needs all new teachers and a new principal

Greatest Schools! Grizzly Gonsalves! The approach, guidance and prompt report about the kids to parents were the things which I admire. Everyday the color of the child's bear is a measurement to find the progress. Money spent is really worth. 100% Satisfied!! Long Live Gonsalves and Staff! Best Wishes for all the other schools too , to give all the kids in the universe a better place just like Gonsalves!

Gonsalves Elementary is an awesome school from my experiance. I heard from one of my frined & I was confused to buy a home or not . Finally I made up my mind for the sake of school & bought it. Now I feel so relaxed by seeing my child improvement over the last 2 years.Apart from academics, cultural activities, extracurricular activities , the after school day care is very nice. Its like a homely feeling. Even though I am at home & want my child to be at home , she says she doesn't want to come home because she enjoys over there a lot. Overall I can say , the school is like a family for me.The parent teacher invlovement is superb. The principal participates actively in all the evernts.
