Teachers are caring, principal is very responsive to new ideas and parent involvement, many supplementary programs are provided at the school (before and after school care, poetry clubs, reading groups). the children bring a great diversity and liveliness to the school. It is true that California is in a budget crisis and schools are loosing funding as a result parents as well as teachers and other staff have been reaching into their own pockets to pay for things that were once covered by the state. This is true at McManus and any other school in the state.

As in any organization or school there will always be disgruntled folks and personality conflicts. IMHO, the staff at McManus care deeply for their students and try to provide them with a quality eduacational experience. Some issues mentioned are problems at schools district wide; lack of parking and budget issues. I am not sure what things 'parents have to pay for'. And finally, as a parent, I recognize the need for volunteers in everything my kids are involved in...the only way to create change is to become involved myself!!

Parents pay for everything, there is no parking, the volunteer staff are rude beyond belief. The principle is a real piece of work I honestly wonder where she got her credentials. She is horrible. Teachers are 3rd rate. Just not worth the hassle. And the school district makes it all but impossible to move your child.
