Want to improve this school’s profile? You can!

All schools on GreatSchools begin with BASIC completeness, which includes important information like contact details and test scores. It’s up to the school community to take the next steps. As a parent or community member, you can share what you know with other families by writing a review or answering a few questions about what the school offers. As a school leader, you can upload photos, describe school programs, and more with an Official school profile.

The completeness meter moves to INTERMEDIATE, then ADVANCED, and finally HONOR ROLL as you complete the following: 10 or more reviews, at least 1 photo, and 9 program questions parents find helpful.

Great teachers!!! Never had any problems. Everyone is always nice and willing to help. So glad my daughter got into this school, she progressed so well this year. Looking forward to the coming years. Principal and Vice principal did a great job!

Ladies in the office need to start by being welcoming , friendly and at least smile with a good morning or good afternoon. They are EXTREMELY rude and very snobby, not only to us parents also rude to students. It's amazing how Briggs office staff still have they're positions dealing with parents , all the parents I have spoke to complain of Briggs office staff . I would love to rate the school with 5 stars , unable to due to office staffing. Teachers are doing a great job, principal did a great job being his first year and vice principal did a great job as well. Love the school great curriculum !! Love the excessive homework , keeps students working hard.

I am very happy with this school. Briggs is great! They are in fact strict in different areas, but it is worth it. They have a great academic environment and all the staff is friendly and helpful. My child has been at this school for two years, he loves it. I would recommend this school 100%

I had two children that attended Briggs. The elementary far exceeds the junior high. Many of the teachers in junior high have their "favorite students" and it is very apparent who they are. The AVID program has ruined the educational atmosphere for all the students. AVID has created a elite group of students, that adminstration and teachers focus on. If your child is not in AVID, they will be forgotten. I wished I would have moved my children when they reached junior high.

this school i like it but it can be better. First of all one of the teacher's in seventh grade yelled at my child for not having a pencil he got a detention for being unprepared he was sick the last couple of day's. Lunch line's are too long and my son comes home hungry and too tired to do his homework. its still a great school but they have a couple of problem's to fix.

Very disappointing as a school. They changed the whole school we don't have color guard, basket ball team's club's or anything they lied saying that they would. Its a shame the Lady's in the office are rude, the principal and vice principal don't even try to help. kid's aren't allowed to sit with other kid's Lunch line's are too long. Lunch is the same thing: grilled cheese or a burrito. A particular teacher is very racist. Ever since they got new principal and vice principal they have been very Rude and very not understanding.

I'm not happy with the teachers at Briggs. This school is not a good place for children that struggle with school. My child struggles and is punished by her teacher instead of helped. Very disappointed.

Excellent school. Great Teachers and Principal. Very active parent group. Overall, I am very pleased with the education my children receive at Briggs. I have one child in High School, and one still at Briggs. I have been here a long time, and I'm so happy with my choice to put my kids in Briggs. Also, I think the office staff is the best and not intimidating at all!!

In comparison to other schools in this area, Briggs is one of the best choices out here. We have a great principal with a successful proven record and makes himself visible to all the kids (which they enjoy). Our PFA is also very active and work so hard to make sure this school has as much as possible for our kids! No School is perfect and that is where we as parents need to stay involved to help make it a more positive experience for our kids.

This school is a bad choice for our kids. Some of the teachers' and staff are mean and way to strict for our kids. The only good person there is Mr. Harrel. He is the nicest principal I've have ever met. He is the only one that listens to our kids. i would recommend of putting your child in Canyon Hills or Ramona. But briggs is a 5 or 6 out of 10.

Good School, Most Teachers are good although some like to intimidate our kids & embarrass them. Which I do not agree with at all. Most of the office staff are very rude & also like to intimidate our children. Not very Professional, Friendly, & they do not make you feel very welcome. The NEW PRINCIPAL MR. HAROLD is AWESOME!!!! Mr. Harold is EXCELLENT with the Kids, he listens to what they have to say, & kids feel comfortable talking with him. Not a lot of field trips, JR. High does not have drill team & very few elective classes. Everything is taught very quickly, I don't feel sufficent time is allowed for kids to grasp what they have learned. I guess this may be common with all schools.

It is hard to beat a school like Briggs where the parents are involved, the teachers are excellent and caring, and the leadership is proactive and forward thinking. Two of our three children have graduated from Briggs and the third is about to finish sixth grade. There is a marked difference of Cchildren from Briggs compared to other students entering high school. They are much better prepared, disciplined, and capable acedemically and socially. We thank God our children were able to attend Briggs

I am very pleased with our choice as having Briggs as our school! No school is perfect and we didn't expect Briggs to be either, but to see our children excel and at the same time like their teachers and enjoy school just reiterates that this is where they belong! The dress code seems to be slacking off while the motto is supposed to be Dress For Success. I wouldn't mind seeing that more enforced. We do wish there were more extracurricular activities at the Junior High level, like clubs, drill team, and even a marching band, but it is nice that we do have choir at the 5th grade level and band for 5th and up, not to mention track for all grades. All in all, we're very pleased with the education our children are receiving and are looking forward to the rest of our kids' Briggs career.

I have two children enrolled at Briggs. This has been a great school for my kids to learn at, the vice-principal has been great. Some of the teachers leave a lot to be desired, but we as parents need to be involved with our children, a lot of the parents at this school are very involved. I am very please with the education my children have received here and would recommend this school to any family that would be understanding of the strict dress code and homework policy. I'm looking forward to many more years of great education for my children.

I as a parent love it here at Briggs, I feel this school is a safe and plesant place for my daught to go to school. I have family members that are students here and I have family that live around the block from Briggs. I would recomend to any parent for them to send their children to Briggs. Its funny when I hear parents talk about how they want their child to go to Briggs, and Im greatful that my child was able to get in here for the start of her school career. I like that the same staff works in the office, and that the same teachers are still here. Because I hear what great teachers they are from other family members, and I always look forward to the start of the school year to see what teacher my daughter got.

I am so Happy with the school we chose for our 2 children. We have been here at Briggs since 1998 my son has just Promoted from 8th and is more than ready to start High School. My daughter will start 6th this Sept. '07. Her 5th grade teacher Mrs. Voznick is awesome. Great with the children and always there to help. I can't wait for my 4 yr. old to start in 2008! The teachers are stern the rules are strict but so is the real world. I have no problem with the dress code. I only wish more parents were for it. School is for learning it's not a 'Fashion Show'. I don't recommend this school for those who do not get involved or have problems with a few strict rules. This school really prepares the children for their High School experience.

I have three children at Briggs and they have done nothing but thrive! The teachers are amazing, the Office Staff couldn't be more helpful and pleasant to deal with and the PFA is so inviting and appreciative of any and all help they receive. You just have to get involved! The same people rely on each other to help out because there aren't enough volunteers. When you ask, when you get involved, when you attend meetings and see all the effort these awesome ladies put into your child's school experience you will appreciate all they do! If you want your children to attend a school that is genuinely concerned with your child's overall academic experience Briggs is the school for you!

I'm so bless and thankful my children got into this school. This is our first year at Briggs and my children love it. The principal and teachers are excellent. The staff and PFA are amazing. I am very impressed. It is a choice school and I made the right choice I just wish I had made it sooner. I do not agree to the previous comment. It's my first year here at Briggs I walked right in, signed on to volunteer and got involved. I was ask to be chairperson of Red Ribbon Week and also Holiday Boutique. Comments being made about the PFA not allowing you to have your say, is far from the truth. I am a good example of that. They are all wonderful ladies. I truly recommend this school to anyone and everyone. Thanks for such an pleasant and awesome school! :) S. Sisler

Highly recommend this campus. Yes, they strictly enforce their academics and have a 'no excuse policy', but so does life! My girls attended another Chino elementary school EJM, as did all my other 5 children from K-6...Unfortunately seeing things change there I immediately moved them to Anna Borba in 04 One of my girls went thru promotion last year to Briggs 05 and both girls are achieving their goals, and I really think it helps to have tight guidelines. In a society where everyone is making excuses to get 'off the hook', both Borba and Brigs have Principals that Listen and Respond! Mrs. Alaniz is a cherished commodity! The Advanced Band really enhances the education. My older boys went to DAL and I have 1 girl at CHS...Need to evaluate that again! Decision is still out for Senior high for my youngest! MP3 Players should be banned at school!

This is our second year at Briggs. Our children currently attend Briggs and love it. This school has focused on all the right things to make not only our children but all children do well. Although I must say, parents are a tremendous factor in the success of their children. Briggs faculty has exceeded all of our expectations from discipline and structure to curriculum to physical education. I know that due to this balanced school my children are being set up for achievement in whatever they elect to pursue in life. Thank you Briggs

My son is going onto his third year at Briggs. We love the way that the staff and PFA Board work for the school. He enjoys Briggs and like to participate in the activities. Briggs as a whole is a very good school, but Teachers and Administration need to remember that not ALL kids are the same and ALL kids do not learn the same way. We need to see the student as an individual and reach them at that level. I feel over the years the teachers have really gotten burned out and we as parents need to do something about that, whether it's encouraging them, helping them out by vounteerting our time, or letting the district know, that Education should be #1 priority and now administration.

My son has been at Briggs for seven years now and I'm not impressed. I feel the teachers are lazy. They seem to only want perfect students and don't go the extra mile for kids. Teachers don't see average or below average students as a challenge but more as a burden. Our children are unique individuals not robots. I think school is overrated nowadays. I went to a school in a low-income area and I can name several teachers that loved what they did and took the time to work with me outside of regular class time. I guess what I'm trying to say is that teachers, 5 out of the 7 at least, seem to only treat their life influencing occupation as a job. If that's the case go apply yourself elsewhere. As a whole education in my opinion is failing. Homeschooling seems to be the only other option.

Both my children attended Anna Borba Fundamental and Briggs Fundamental (for grades 7 & 8). Yes, it is a strict school. No, I don't alway agree with some of the disciple. However, placing my children was a choice. They have a home school. The curriculum is the same throughout the district. I chose to enroll my children so they would continue to learn their personal responsiblities to themselves, others and their community. The rules are clearly stated. This is a school like any other school that a child does not have to attend (e.g. private school). What I say to parents that find the disciple, rules and requirements a little over the top is...don't enroll your child in this fundamental program! Enrolling your child is your choice! Don't blame the school if you don't like it; you were told what to expect.

This is my daughter's first year at Brigg's as a second grader. I highly reccomend this school. For once, everyone that works at this school is out for the best interest of the child. I was truly blessed with a wonderful teacher and with her, my husband and myself, we worked as a team to help our daughter and she is doing much better. I highly reccomend this school.

I am a National Board Certified teacher in the Chino Valley Unified School District who had the opportunity to teach new English learners at Lyle Briggs School in the summer of 2003. I found the school principal, Mr. Federwisch, to be fair and supportive. I also noticed that the other summer school staff, in particular Ms. Collins and Ms. Mikhail, were highly dedicated professionals who went way above and beyond the call of duty. Even the custodial staff was cheerful and willing to assist the teachers on a daily basis, despite District cutbacks and reduced work hours. My students represented varied levels of academic performance and were predominately Hispanic. (The District's population is currently 45% Hispanic.) For this reason, it is important for our Chino Valley Unified School District schools to have trained, qualified teachers who are available to instruct the District's new Engish learners. I know that Lyle Briggs teachers were undergoing inservicing in this area during the summer. Often parents are not aware of the intricacies involved in a teacher's day-to-day experiences and how much work it takes to ensure that each student's educational program is matching his/her individual needs. This is particularly important when new English learners or students enrolled in Special Education are involved. I invite parents at this and other schools to inquire about all of the special programs that are available to their child/children, at at an individual school level and/or the District level. Finally, I would like to mention that our District's Superintendent Dr. George H. Bloch stopped by my classroom on the last day of summer school just in time to assist us in distributing the many Perfect Attendance awards that we gave out to the seventh and eighth grade students who never missed a day! Thank you Dr. Bloch. The kids, I am quite sure, will not forget your surprise visit and neither will I.

I have three children who attended Briggs and I use to welcome everyone to try to get their children into this school, I now have 1 child at Briggs and the only reason is because next year he will enter junior high or Im sure he would have been pulled out like the others. I know what the other parent meant when its said, the administration is quick to say Briggs is a 'choice' school, we have been there! My other children go to a school in the same district very near briggs, this school carries the same curriculum as briggs does but my children are free to express themselves in the clothes they wear and what they have to say.

My husband and I want to congratulate the staff that works above and beyond their paychecks at this school. It is a choice school and we have chosen to be a part of the choice of higher education! We know school is for learning-outside activies are a parents choice-let the parent go to a rec. dept. for those activities, or better yet, that parent should get involved and create that extra activity. Thanks Briggs for a wonderful school!!

My son attended a chino school for 5 years. We changed schools in his 6th year, what a differance Anna Borba made. We picked Briggs for 7th grade for the same quality of school. I think the school is alot better then others in the area, but i don't see alot of activities, like Anna borba offered. My son doesn't enjoy school like he used too and I think they need more group activities for kids.

I have been fortunate to have my son attend Briggs going on 7 years now. Yes, it is a choice and a privileged one at that. It takes a lot of work on both the part of the child and the parent. When I take a look around at my other options, the efforts we both put in are worth it. Keep up the good work Briggs.
