Don Lugo High School is a below average school in my opinion. As far as I am concerned the administration at this school is only worried about themselves and does very little to nothing to insure better grades and student safety. Many students come from out of the district and need to prove very little to attend this school. No dress code is enforced and drug are a part of the norm. I don't see this school ever improving much.

As the parent of a senior at Don Lugo, I will say that Lugo is about average as a HS. The teachers, for the most part, are a caring group of people who do care about their students. You do have the teachers, who think that they relate better to the students by swearing and dressing unprofessionally. That unfortunately happens at most schools. The teachers lack of concern over their dress rubs off on the students, who don't know or don't care if there is a dress code. As a former school board member (in another district), I believe that Lugo is about average as High Schools go. The students will get out of school in direct proportion to the effort they put into it. Parents need to be involved. There is no excuse for not being involved.

Don Lugo...while its definitionally not the best school around. I will say some teachers do care about your grades in the school while others can really careless. The school has a huge problem when it comes to their dress code it actually seems like there isn't a dress code. Girls walk around with fish nets and tons of make- up, short & tight clothes, while the boys have their pants to low or wear extremely bright color shirts or pants or too much jewelery, basically very flashy clothes on both sides, it seems the students care more about what they are wearing then how good their grades are. No one seems to never tell the students about their clothing, when I asked a student about the dressing code they simply replied by saying that the students at Don Lugo like to express themselves to the fullest. Not the best school around.

For those of you that have heard that Don Lugo School is not the 'best' high school in the CVUSD, I would like to offer you some insight. My child is currently a Junior at Don lugo and has had the most positive experiences.The people at lugo are generally nice and are no worse then anything else the happens on other campuses. His teachers all care about how he is doing and really push him to do well. I believe that no matter where you attend the their will be problems with the school and to single out lugo is wrong. Many other events have happened at chino, ayala, and chino hills meaning no school is perfect. To say that all kids at other schools are classy is just funny.

This school is the lowest of the low, I mean I rather go to Chino then this extremely trashy school. The kid's are mean, rude, and overall just trash. It seem's also that the school dosen't really care about the dress rules, I seen girls walking around with leggings with holes and their shirts not covering their belly button and they were extremely high heel's, yet the school dosen't mind and these student's don't get in trouble. The student's at Ayala, Chino Hill's and Chino are very classy and have manners and don't fight while the kid's at Don Lugo are very obnoxious, rude, trashy and the meanest kid's I have ever met. I'm serious when I say this but, the kid's and the school is sooo trashy. Don Lugo worry about how your student's look and how they act before test scores.

Don Lugo has come a long way these past few years. Parent participation has made a huge difference recently. The Principal and teachers strive for higher education the parents have rallied to bring extra funding to the school. Most recent achievement was getting a stadium approved, ground breaking in April 09. This alone will provide a source of funding to the school. DL is the only school in the district to offer an OTC program. Their Sports Boosters program provides over 50k a yr to their students including scholorships. Their School Site Committee works diligently to improve school grounds and programs, which includes the Pride Committee. This was a group of parents who gathered together with students to get the stadium approved over the past 2 1/2 yrs. So before you judge this school, have you done your part to make this the best place for your student.

This is the best school. Most people do think it is not grate from the way it looks and how the distiric dose not give us a lot of money. But we have less gangs and many loveing techers on this campus.

Don lugo is a great achieving school. Its acadenics leval is good. The teachers pay attention to you when you need the help, and its really good supervised all around the campus, im a freshman have all honors classes. And im a basketball player. If you want your kids to achieve and get a great education. Choose Don Lugo high school. I recomend it.

Compared to the other high school in the district this school fall in the unsatifactory level. The campus needs to be updated, the API scores should be as high as the other high schools. It seems to me that they always leave this high school for the last. I think the district really needs to work with Don Lugo to get to the level of the other high schools.

Much like the schools in the entire LA County & San Bernardino County school system, there are teachers that act more like babysitters. Teachers have little respect for the students. The quality of academic program varies. The best program available for your child is the AVID Program. This program is geared to ensuring your child has all the available resources that will help your child attend college. This school also has a good honors program. The availability of music, art, sports and other extracurricular activities are offered, if your child is interested. The level of parent involvement is poor - average.

This school has been a challing one as far as academics, so that is good. the princiable and counslers are great. (Kathie Spawn our counsler for my son is awesome awsome great!). I did not know what to expect we had been in private school until high school, they are very good at communication caring and wanting to help students succeed.

My daughter only attended Don Lugo the first part of the school year. Unfortunately, her conduct and grades were below average. Because of other reasons besides her grades we chose to put her in a different school. What I want to express is how great and concerned her teachers were and how they truly continuously tried to guide/motivate her in the right direction. There was continuous parent/teacher communication, different avenues were discussed on how to motivate her, and at one point all of the teachers along with a disctrict psychologist met to try and come up with a solution to aide her in doing better. I have total high regards for all of them, this was at the 9th grade level, and truly appreciate their persistance and concern. This type of effort is what needs to be seen in the public school system, my daughter failed--not the teachers or the system.

I have been involued with this highschool for 5yrs on a few boards and booster parent that holds a office. I see many teachers that dont have any passion anymore for the kids!!! Many good kids fall through the cracks and the extra activites has been cut so much that its not there for the regular kids. all the extracurricular cost too much money for most kids to be.. I thought HS was suppose a learning and fun place, not a place were the teacher read to the class that you can not pay so you cant play.....

About the tests


In 2011-2012 California used the California Standards Tests (CSTs) to test students in English language arts in grades 2 through 11; math in grades 2 through 7; science in grades 5, 8 and 10; and history-social science in grades 8 and 11. Middle and high school students also took subject-specific CSTs in math and science, depending on the course in which they were enrolled. The CSTs are standards-based tests, which means they measure how well students are mastering specific skills defined for each grade by the state of California. The goal is for all students to score at or above proficient on the tests.

The different student groups are identified by the California Department of Education; if there are fewer than 10 students in a particular group in a school, the state doesn't report data for that group.
