My daughter is finishing 2nd grade now and this is our first year with EJ Marshall. I will say that we got a great teacher but I am hesitant about how our second year will go. the PTO is ok but I felt alienated by them because of lack of communication. I am not very excited about fundraising with them because of it and I am a very involved parent! but overall my child has had a very good experience and good teaching. I really like the principle because he gets out with the kids and he is very visible (unlike our last school). the kids love and respect him and that's very important. like many schools trying to get by with less I appreciate that he reaches out and reminds people to donate if they can. And I do. I hope to have another great report for this time next year when my daughter is in 3rd grade... and let's hope our testing goes well this year! overall I feel that education is a big focus and the teachers show alot of effort in teaching our kids despite the bigger classrooms and lack of funds. I pray for all our teachers because their job is sooooo important.
Mr. "Zackaria", I don't hate anyone. I just don't like having to pay for people who are here illegally. Let me guess, you're an "undocumented worker" too, am I right? Oh, and hey, no one is a "fellow American" if they are here illegally. People like you are always ready to play the hate card or the race card, because you have no real standing in the debate.
Try to see beyond your hatred my fellow American!! and if you can t change your ways ( you can always go back to where you come from)
Marshall staff teaches to the test just like every other school in Chino.
We changed to this school because we moved by it, I wish my kids were still at Los Serronos, they miss it there, but now that school might be closing... I will be holding my son back this year at marshall, his grades are real low.... makes me sad but I was told it would be better to do it now, then later, we are still trying to get use to this school, my little girl has gotten 2 awards, now she is a different story, she is doing very well at Marshall...
I am very happy with their teaching. All the teachers are very good.
My 4 children have been at this school for the two years and I am still impressed with the teachers, principal and vice-principal. It was a 'day & night' difference compared to their last school and district. Recently, the school has rolled out their new website intended to inform parents of the 'classroom news', upcoming events, homework assignments and communication between teachers and parents. Unfortunately, not too many teachers are updating their information on a daily basis and have nothing to offer which I believe is a reflection of that individual. I love that the principal and vice-principal are out directing traffic in the parking lot (both AM & PM)and walking the kids safely across the street. A job that could have easily been delegated to another staff but didn't. To me, actions speak louder than words!
My Daughter has attended this school for 5 years now and we could not have been happier. The student, parent , and teacher interaction is of a high priority to this site. The principal is always interacting with students on a daily basis, which allows student to get to know them on a very personal level. They promote family interacting together at home as well as at school. We have always had instant contact with the teachers through the internet as well as the students if there was any question about anything including homework.
Marshall Elementary is a good school, though I am concerned that the parent's voice is often ignored when it comes to decisions made. I like that it shows pride and gives encouragement to the children and rewards them when they accomplish something. It needs work, but overall, Marshall is a good school.
The multi-track calendar makes it really difficult for working mothers. Sometimes the children have to rove around to different rooms to accomodate the multi track calendar. The school changed its hours to an early start 8am, which is better for me. The principal seems really involved, however the school keeps on loosing its Vice Principals due to advancements.
