Profile Completeness

INTERMEDIATE

Want to improve this school’s profile? You can!

All schools on GreatSchools begin with BASIC completeness, which includes important information like contact details and test scores. It’s up to the school community to take the next steps. As a parent or community member, you can share what you know with other families by writing a review or answering a few questions about what the school offers. As a school leader, you can upload photos, describe school programs, and more with an Official school profile.

The completeness meter moves to INTERMEDIATE, then ADVANCED, and finally HONOR ROLL as you complete the following: 10 or more reviews, at least 1 photo, and 9 program questions parents find helpful.

I enjoy taking my son to CFS. Every time you drop off or pick up, it is clear that the children are very happy to be there. They have a great curriculim for their preschool program. Fieldtrips, healthy lunches and snacks are included in the tuition cost. Their administrative staff is very friendly, albeit disorganized.

I am a credentialed public school teacher with two children at Creative Frontiers for 5 years. My old boss (San Juan School District Superintendant) recommended me to see school. He paid for his two grandchildren to do K-6 there and could not say enough good about school how impressive is that! I also see many other teachers bringing their children too. I agree: office is understaffed, but principal focuses budget on quality classroom staff/programs and all children are always well supervised. Principal and director stay late or call on weekends just to return messages. Mr. Bob gives out cell phone to everyone! Btw, he earned the 2008 Administrator of the Year from the second-largest professional teaching association in California. The school is on 7 acres so you may find a puddle or repair in process here or there, but they have a full time maintenance man & janitor on staff.

This school is by far the best school for children in the sacramento area, it does not have the best office staff, however it is about the children not the administration stuff and every child is in the best of hands with the teachers and all staff. The cost for this is far and what they have to offer with the tuition is faboulous, swim, field trips, and holiday parties, my children love to go to school and I feel so content everyday when there there cause I know not only are they learning so much they are in great hands. I do and will alway recommend this school to everyone..

For 5 months, our child attended this school. Academically school was great and so were the teachers! However, poor communication and bookkeeping with head and administrative staff. Facilities were always flooded, children allowed to roam grounds unsupervised. Personal experience with head staff was extremely unprofessional and turned out to be unsatisfactory. I would not recommend this school to anyone!

I am a parent of a 2nd grader. I have to say that it is a GREAT feelign to know that my child LOVES going to Creative Frontiers. My husband is the one who picks her up from school he travels and today he would not be able to pick her up at 4pm. I told her I was sorry that she would have to stay late, close to 5:30 pm due to working. She jumped in the air and said' Yes! You are and awesome mom! Thank you' I was shocked. Thank you CFS for making my daughter feel safe when she is away from home. You guys are the BEST!!

This is my sons second year. He came in 99% in the entire nation on his GPA during his Kindergarden year with Mrs. S... He reads like a 10 year old and just turned 6. The atmosphere is personable, not run down like others say. Look at what your up against with public school GPA's, overcrowding, factor in before and after school care and you will agree... The cost, convenience, but mostly the level of education is way worth the money spent...

Our son has been going to CF for a year now and we love it. I find the administration helpful, available and child-focused. I look forward to our son going on to Kindergarten here and beyond.

I d like to thank the faculty and staff for the wonderful Kindergarten experience Tyler had before we moved. Tyler started at Creative Frontiers in 2006, after having been in an in-home pre-school. He acclimated quickly to the Creative Frontiers environment. He enjoyed a terrific year with Mrs. Flynn, the other teachers, and his fellow students. It s hard as a parent, dropping off your child at school in the morning, leaving them to go to Kindergarten, while you go to work all day but it s so much easier when you see that your child is happy. School was so fun for him! He was happy when I dropped him off and also when I picked him up - even after a long day. I was so impressed! The academics were top notch. Everyone there does a fantastic job! You provided him such a good start in school, both emotionally and educationally.

My children were pulled out of public schools because they could not read at their grade level. The afterschool program was awful - all ages mixed together. Since coming to Creative Frontiers my children's reading scores have improved by 2 grades and their study habits have improved with the great after school homework club. I would recommend this school to anyone who values their children's future.

Creative Frontiers has been an extremely supportive school. If there is any questions the teachers and the office staff--including the principle are quick to respond. My child has thoroughly enjoyed the horse back riding, swimming, and the Spanish classes. The teachers have even used books from other classrooms to support my child's learning.

This school has been great academically for our two children. They have attended since pre-school. We are planning on taking them out because we have run out of money. The school administration and communication is very poor and the bookkeeping was always incorrect. There always seemed to be a problem with the simplest things like the copier, always broken or the bathrooms, always dirty. We felt our money was not going towards making the school run smoothly or toward administrative support.

I agree with the last comment the staff is unbelievably dedicated and talented! My child has been at this school for 4 years. I look forward to completing her entire elementary education there! Before we joined, we thought this school was expensive, but then we looked at over 20 schools before deciding upon this one. Creative Frontiers was by far the most reasonable of the good ones! Lunch and extras are included. I know the plumbing issue in one bathroom the parent commented on (below), but I saw an involved administration solving a complex problem which they did! By the way, this is the first school I know of where the principal gives you his e-mail and cell phone number to contact him! I have only had to call him once, but he answered me right away. This is a great school - I would highly recommend it!

My child attended this school for over 2 years. The teachers were all fantastic! The summer swimming was fantastic, my child swims like a fish. However, the condition of the school was not the greatest. Often the bathroom stall flooded and was closed for student use. Also, the office staff had poor communication and let items of concern sit around with no attention to the matter until we went down to the office to address the situation. My child learned so much academically, however the school is very expensive and the principal and administrative staff turned out to be unsatisfactory.

Creative Frontiers has been a great experience for us! After visiting EVERY private school in the area, we were happy to finally find one that suited our daughter's 'outdoor' personality. It has been a perfect experience for us. Now, she always wants to go to school!

Creative Frontiers is more than a school, it is like family. Everyone cares for one another and looks out for the best interest of the children. Our experience at this school has been wonderful day after day. You can't beat the price and the quality! My 5 year old daughter is sad on the weekend when there is no school. Between the education, swimming, field trips and cute little class celebrations, this school towers above the rest!

My daughter is a first grader and has been a Creative Frontier's student for the past 3 years. Thanks to staff's above and beyond cooperation and communication with us (her parents), she is blossoming into a responsible, kind, intelligent, and confident young lady!

I just have to say how much we love this school! I work for the Department of Education and previously, we had our child in an in-home daycare. I am so glad we made the choice to move her to Creative Frontiers. They provide such a solid program and I feel so confident that she will be ready for 'Big Girl School'. I am truly thankful for being part of a great school and great staff - they are all so helpful!

My two girls have been at Creative Frontiers for 4 years and 2 years respectively. I am so thrilled to have found a school that is academically superior with such friendly and caring teachers, administrators and principal. The girls love the entire program, including all the extracurricular outdoor activities (swimming, horseback riding, dance, gymnastics, etc.) I highly recommend this school!

I had some great teacher experiences at this school with my children over the past four years. This is in a true country setting, so if you are looking for a perfect environment, this is not where you will find it. The children though, are well loved and educated. They have always encourage my children to do their best!

We removed our children from this school after too many promises not kept. There were extra costs for all. Efforts to talk to principal were completely fruitless. After school program was appalling with no structure. There is no PTL but the school itself pushed many fundraisers. Teachers were great but school communication extremely poor.

I have three little girls in this school. I love it! As a full time mom and also a teacher I am glad to be able to leave my girls and know they are receiving a great education! It is hard to not be able to be at home with them and with Creative Frontier's staff and owner I couldn't ask for a better situation! They love my girls and are so good to them. I don't know how to repay them. It truly is a wonderful place and I would recommend any child to enjoy the fun there :)

I have taken my 2 children out of this school. I am disappointed with the school in general except for some of the teaching staff. The buildings are in a state of disrepair. The principal is almost never available and very rarely even on the premises. There is no agreement between staff on how to manage discipline. A few teachers use positive discipline but most are inappropriate and confrontational. There is no organized computer class and no music program. The only extracurricular activities offered are horseback riding and swimming in the summer.

The academic programs are very good up to fifth grade. Ms Spence, Mrs Woody and several more are wonderful. It is very expensive and I don't mind that as long as we are getting the good teachers.

On the surface, the school is beautiful. It is a very expensive school and none of the money seems to go where it should. Some teachers are top of the line (Ms Spence) while others are the equivalent of a cardboard cutout. Lots of potential, but horrible implementation for the cost of the school, and fees, and books.

This is by far the closest private school to our home; we are gladly making the drive into Charmichael to another now. We are disappointed in the amount of money that dosn't seem to make it's way into the upkeep of the school. A little more upkeep and dedication to the original design of this school would go a very long way...

I attended this school many years ago. At the time, I was in first grade, that was the highest grade level. Over the later years I attended several other schools through out the greater Sacramento area, none could compare to the quality of education and care that I experianced at Creative Frontiers. I look forward to, one day, sending my own children there. Hopefully it is still the same, if not, better.

I have fallin love with this school. The teachers and other staff are so caring and extremely knowledgeable. This school would be a great place for your children to attend. It is a safe and loving enviornment. In the classroom children are constantly being engaged and learning new things. I love the way this school is being run. It has a professional feel yet the staff really cares about the families. I am thankful I am a part of the Creative Frontiers Family.

The lack of professionalism by the owner /operator /Principal Mr Bob is frustrating. The condition of the facility in general is poor, and it looks to me that there is not much effort put into updating or modernizing. I personally would appreciate a larger focus on cleanliness by the school, but that can be a simple personal preference issue. I do appreciate the swimming, music and horseback lessons offered, but again, those can be attained by looking into most cities parks and recreation districts offerings. The teachers do seem to care, be directly involved, and focus on the children, which is a big positive for the school. The poor facilities and lack of professional leadership highly diminishes the positive light from the teachers on those involved with, or looking to be involved with this school.

My child was in Ms. Janet's Pre-K class and loved it. Ms. Janet nurtured my shy son and helped my child come out of himself, become more independent, and become excited about what he can do. His self-esteem improved as a learner. The teachers are caring and professional and Mr. Bob (the principal) has always been respectful and professional as well. He really seems to care about the kids. I love the school's cozy setting, too.

Academnic programs as far as the teachers are concerned are great. The office administrators leave something to be desired. I find it very hard to pay for private school and still have to pay for extras above and beyond.

Our experience at Creative Frontiers has been great thus far. Teachers and Staff seem to work well together and provide a family environment for all that attend. The beautiful surrounding, extracurricular activities, and teaching methods chosen make it enjoyable for my daughter, and us as parents.

This school as shown on a tour has alot of wonderful things to offer a child. The country setting with horses and a chicken brings the country to Citrus Heights. Unfortunatly after enrollment the looks became deceiving. Though staff is genuinely commited to your child, upper administration is a absent principle. The principle does not return calls. I have tried to contact the principle reguarding filthy bathroom. It became a health concern. Teachers are wonderful and office staff does the best.

Teachers are exceptional, principal/owner of the school is lacking. Does not believe in discipline/zero-tolerance policy. Bathrooms are terrible, buildings are rotten, cleanliness of the school is far below par. Again, teachers are excellent and my child will miss them.

The principal talked the good talk prior to our registration. I, too have noticed that he avoids me when I see him now. I have noticed no extra-curricular activities being offered my child. If you want to include swimming, my child learned nothing last year, since there were 2 classes and only one instructor. Yes, the bathrooms are a shambles and the playground facilities are old and lacking. There is no music program at all--no choir, no instruments. But boy, they do have VCR's in the classroom and after school programs, and they sure use them. Even though my child says the office doesn't approve, the instructors still play videos nearly every day instead of doing crafts or something worthwhile. I look at their ad in the yellow pages, and I say, 'Wow, I wish we went there!'

- submitted by a parent
April 13, 2004
Parents are asked to pay for field trips, my child has never used a chartered bus, and the bathrooms are often in disrepair and without the basic necessities. Not to mention the fact that the school is flooded all winter long due to poor irrigation, and there isn't very good playground equipment. This school is overpriced, and while the staff is great, the principal avoids parents.

I cannot say enough good things about this school! My children attended preschool through 6th grade. Now, my grandchildren attend. Thanks to their loving, supportive atmosphere, in addition to their attention to children s individual personalities I have successful college graduates on my hands! Their attitude towards the children and discipline style is very positive and encouraging. They teach learning excellence without stress, and the school site is beyond your dreams! They include everything within the tuition fees: No extra costs for horseback riding, dance, gymnastics, swimming lessons (yes, they have a pool!), library, computers, sports, lunch. Field trips are even included! Several of the original staff members I met in the 80 s are still there (Hi Ms Pat, Ms. Nancy & Mr. Bob!). The retired San Juan School Superintendent has his grandchildren there - What does that tell you? Sorry if I sound too supportive, but you will too!
