My daughter is only in kindergarten, but I'm a worry-wart type of mother and was very apprehensive about her starting school. I was even considering homeschooling. But I toured this school at the end of the previous school year and felt comfortable so I decided to send her. I feel that she has had a great first year and I must commend the staff for working together so well and providing interesting activities for the kids. There are lots of field trips and neat little projects that they do. I can see that she has learned so much and is happy. I hope this continues with the other grades!

I love how friendly everyone is at the school. How much the teachers get involed with the school and the students.

Sumner is a wonderful school. The teachers work well together and everyone on campus is welcoming to parents and children alike. From the principal and office staff to the lunch and recess aides to the teachers, everyone is kind and encouraging. This school strives to teach the whole child with music, art, P.E. and special days as well as the 3 'R's' We love Sumner!

Sumner has the most lovely campus of all the Claremont elementary schools--it is just a pleasure to be on the grounds. There is great teamwork among the teachers and they really do try to teach to the individual child. The diversity is a great plus, especially with the chance to interact with the Danbury students. Sumner is the great secret of the Claremont school district!

There is no other school I would choose for my children. They successfully mainstream Occupationally handicapped children in many classrooms, yet also provide necessary services to these students. The teachers are creative, warm, and caring and create a very positive environment. Students learn compassion and sensitivity towards all cultures, and are actively involved in project based learning. The teachers do more than teach to the test, they engage minds. Academic expectations are high as well. Children also have a chance to make friendships with others from other races and various socio-economic backgrounds. Parents are involved and down to earth.
