Ben Franklin has been a wonderful school for my child. The physical education program cannot be matched, the high expectations and "shape days" have helped my child's fitness. The core classes challenged my child and allowed her to succeed. The band program is the best I have seen in a middle school setting. Teachers are available for conferencing. Parent involvement is low.

I love this school! The students are well-behaved and the teachers are committed and caring. It is a safe place to learn. If I had kids, I would send them here. Also, the school has great after-school programs like Citizen Schools. Other schools in the area don't have this program so we are lucky!

Horrible safety and discipline system. Lot's of bullys. Some drug selling last year. They don't punish bullys that much. I seen a guy got more than 10 referrals and he still walking around the school bullying people. I mean he should be expelled. Why would you let a kid like that stay at our school. It use to be a safe school. I just don't know what happen.

My children are graduating in ('10). The principal is very in tune with the students. The teachers have helped my kids keep their focus and grades up (straight A's). The honor's English and honor's Math is very good and helped my children get into a college prep private high school. Unfortunately, there is very little parent involvment. The same 5-10 parents show up to every event with a student body of over 400. If more parents were involve the student body would thrive. Very sad! I found this school to be a safe environment and no bullying. My kids were not part of a click either. Go Falcons!

This school has a lack of discipline, which is why there are some unfriendly students who bully other students with no consequences to follow.

I can't disagree more with the negative comments about Ben. My son recently graduated ('08). He had wonderful teachers who pushed him to reach his full potential. They knew his capabilities and didn't settle for less from him. He just completed his freshman year of high school with a 4.0. He has been accepted into a program where he will attend UC Berkeley for 5 weeks during the summer for the next 3 years. He is the only student accepted from his high school district. When he wrote his essay for his application, he prided his teachers at Ben for their motiviation. I think Ben is an excellent school that prepared my son well for the transition to high school where he continues to excell! GO FALCONS!

Very dirty and unkept, poor academics, unfriendly students, awful teacher quality, and a huge lack of good extracurriculars. Used to be a great school w/ great teachers and an even better curriculum but is now one of the worst schools in the district. Don't know what happened.

I just transferred in this school. I must say, almost all the teachers are very helpful when it was my 1st day of school! I met a couple of good friends.
