The new principal is great! Parent involvment is low because few parents take time to get involved though their involvement is welcomed The teachers have taken extra time with my daughter and others from thier own time to help .

The 2009-10 school year will be my daughters second year at John Muir Middle School. We got through the first year without a whole lot of drama. The only thing that bothered me was that my daughter was suspended for 3 day for having pink streaks in her hair. I do realize that the parent/student handbook states that hair must be natural colors, but if my memory serves me correctly; there was a number of students I noticed with unnatural colors in their hair. Teachers included. I'm sorry but I believe that the faculty of the school should be setting an example for our students. If our kids are required to follow a dress code, then I believe that the staff should abide by the rules as well. It will it teach the childeren that when rules are set they apply to everyone reguardless of age, sex, or position.

Although this school has had a history of fights don't blame it on the staff. Its the kids. Another thing some kids complain the principal is mean. But for gods sake do u want him to walk around smiling and tall everyone sharing is caring. No if he did this kids would walk all over him. I would give this a 9.5/10 rating

This is a good school. The staff there works very hard to make things better for the kids. The problem is the kids are at an age where they repect nothing.

The teachers and staff at this school need to learn how to focus more on the students that want to succeed! They also need to hire teachers who are going to be there!
