The first and second grade teacher is excellent. However if you have a third or fourth grade student, look elsewhere. My child's grades went down drastically from the prior report card and we were never notified in advance of the next report card that any issues existed. My children will not be attending this school next year.
My son has attended preschool here for the past 2 years and I am having a hard time justifying why he should go to the nearby public school for kindergarten. Of course, the fact that public school is free is an incentive, however I just don't feel as if the nearby public school staff is personable, nor do I feel as if they are going to pay attention to my feedback regading my son's learning due to overcrowded schools and overworked teachers and staff. At Montessori, I love the fact that most of the teachers and all of the staff know my son's name and he loves going to school and their afterschool daycare programs as well. Teachers are genuinely concerned about the students and what they learn and most importantly they show great respect for them. Yes, it's probably because they are a private school and kids are their customers not a problem to me because I want my son's learning to be their focus. Moreover, there are usually at least 2 teachers in the classroom of about 25 kids. Teachers and staff here are open to feedback and work with parents to improve their performance.
Although the preschool program is great, I have a growing concern that my daughter's elementary grades are inflated. When working with her at home she does not know the content. I have scheduled a very expensive testing appointment at Sylvan to assess where her academic standing really is. I am very concerned that the teacher's are not credentialed and 'highly qualified' as measured by the state and federal government. This will very likely be her last year at this school.
My son started when he just turned 3 yrs old. It was a great school to start him off to. He was exposed to various types of work a montessori school has to offer. But after his first year, I was dissappointed he was not getting the right education he should be getting. His second school year in preschool class, I specifically spoke to his teacher during their back to school night, and asked what do they do in class to enhance their learning abilities and how do they prepare the kids for kindergarten. She assured me they would work with him and prepare him for it. We are now half way through the school year and no improvements. I decided to look for another school! I did not like the fact that each preschool room, they grouped kids who were in the ages of 2,3, and 4. How is a child going to get his/her full learning experience? Not only did I have a problem with the education part of it, but the staff, an absolute dissapointment! You can tell that this school is in it for the $$$ and not for the children. If any of you are thinking of putting your kids here, PLEASE feel free to contact me and I would love to tell you all about it.
We took our daughter out of her non-academic pre-school because we thought she had the capacity to learn more. Wow! In just over 4 months she has learned tremendously! She has learned about the solar system, metamorphasis, and even some sign language & Spanish! She can count to 100, knows her planets, and is now learning to read 3 letter words! Her teacher is awesome and the school director has a genuine love for kids and teaching! I am very happy we chose Montessori School of Corona!
Hi my name is Jazmin and I am an ROP student that volunteered at Montessori and worked part-time there too. I think it is a really good school with a great staff so I would recommend it to any parent that is interested in giving their child the best education possible.
Montessori school of Corona is Awesome! Our son has attend since he was in kindergarten and he is now in the 2nd grade. The things he has learned over the last 2 years have been absolutely amazing! He came home from school one day and shared what had taken place that day. My seven year old told me he and another 7 year old were having a discussion about who would be the next president of the United States. I was stunned, this goes to show how much mind has been challenged at this school.
My son has been going to MSOC for 3 years now. He has loved both of his teachers - Miss Colleen, also the school adminstrator/owner, and Miss Christine. The staff and faculty are wonderful and show a genuine concern for the children. I regret that we will be moving and fear that I will not be able to find a comparable school. I highly recommend MSOC! My daughter has attended MSOC for 5 years now. She has loved every teacher and teacher's aid that she's had.
