School Official Point of View

What could be better than fun and games at Cedargrove? Getting to play those games with amazing teachers and your own fabulous family! That’s right, Cedargrove’s Family Math Night brings together staff, parents, students, and even one very special COHS student. All the games involved math and strategy. Students used geometry to build fantastic paper airplanes, addition and subtraction to crack puzzles, and logic to unlock secret codes. It was a fantastic evening of learning and fun! By the end of the event several students won raffles and took home books, posters, calculators, and other great prizes. Parents brought children of all ages to join in the fun. One parent shared, ‘This was a really fun evening for all of us.’ And, Cedargrove’s fun has only just begun. On November 18th, we’ll be celebrating Family Reading Night! Come and join us for a night of Family Fun! For more info on Cedargrove Elementary, visit www.cousd.net

Cedargrove Elementary School is fabulous in every way. The teachers are caring and really work hard with the students. The students are well-prepared from the 6th grade to middle school. Thank you Cedargrove for the excellent education for my child.

The March 15th State of the District featured all of COUSD school sites, Enrichment program, Charter Oak Ed Foundation and Charter Oak Youth Football and Cheer. Everyone had creative and fun displays set up and some with interactive activities, 3D printing and a robotwalking around! There was a student raffle for 3 Chromebooks with the lucky winners from Washington, Oak Knoll Virtual Academy and Cedargrove! Congratulations to the winners!

On behalf of the Campaign for Business & Education Excellence (CBEE), I want to congratulate Cedargrove Elementary School. After an extensive analysis of student data for every public school and district in California, your school stood above the rest in getting your students to grade level proficiency and beyond. Your school has been named as CBEE Honor Roll School for 2014! Your school will be featured on our website and a banner has been designed just for the school to display. Each year, CBEE presents this award to individual schools and to districts that have excelled in raising student achievement and closing achievement gaps. This is a testament to you, your staff and your students’ relentless focus on academic success. The list of Honor Roll schools continues to grow thanks to the hard work and effective practices of thousands of excellent superintendents, administrators, principals, teachers and support personnel in our public schools.  Since its inception in 2005, the CBEE Honor Roll has increased from 261 high performing schools to an inspiring 1851 high performing schools in 2014.  This is thanks to the relentless focus on results for students that you, your staff and your peers have shown over the years.  It is also a strong statement about how success is spreading in public schools across the state. I want to once again congratulate you on the outstanding success your schools have made in raising student academic achievement and closing achievement gaps.

Cedargrove Elementary is an outstanding school because of the incredibly talented, caring and dedicated teachers and staff. The teachers work incredibly well together to support each other and their students, and regularly go above and beyond what they are required to do. Many stay after hours to offer extra programs or extra help. They are welcoming to parents who have concerns or questions and the school works hard to make sure all student needs are being met. They challenge all students to reach their potential, and support those who may be struggling. The teachers have embraced the recent changes in curriculum and have found ways to implement them while ensuring that all kids are meeting the grade level standards. I have seen growth in the depth of understanding in my own children and in others as a result of these changes. They are incredibly willing to help parents understand these changes so we don't feel so lost when trying to help our children with homework. All you have to do is ask! The administration is always open to parent and student input. While everyone may not agree with every decision or change that happens, I have always felt heard and understood, and they are able to explain why they make the decisions they do. We feel incredibly lucky to have our kids at Cedargrove!

Cedargrove Elementary is an outstanding TK-6 grade school in the Charter Oak USD. The teachers, support staff, and principal provide "Golden" programs and services for all students. The school offers students very engaging learning with the new Common Core State Standards and through the use of lots of new technology purchased with Measure CO, school, and PTA funds. Cedargrove offers an outstanding program for GATE students. Cedargrove Elementary has lots of parent support and a supportive PTA.

I have had such an amazing experience with this school. The principal is absolutely fabulous!! She is very involved, personable and this reflects upon the amazing teachers and staff. I have two boys one in 4th grade and one in kindergarten we moved from Ventura, CA and it was an easy transition for our older son due to the compassionate and caring staff.

Love this school!!! My oldest son has adhd an his teacher for second grade was so patient with him, he is now being placed in a slower class so he can learn since regular class is a little to fast paced for him. I am very happy with what my kids have learned at this school so far and I'm excited for their future!!

I went to Cedar Grove Elementary School when I was a kid and I loved it there. They teachers were very nice and all the students were really nice too. I hope to enroll my daughter Shaylee there when she is in Elementary School.
