As a recent graduate, I am definitely proud to say that I attended Homestead. This school has a lot to offer in terms of classes, clubs, sports, and overall extracurriculars. The thing that I liked most about Homestead was the diversity. Homestead, to me, epitomizes diversity. None of the other schools in the FUHSD (Cupertino, Fremont, Lynbrook Monta Vista) have as much diversity as we do. Homestead has a perfect balance of all races and walks of life. Some of the great extracurriculars we have include marching band (one of the top 10 in the state), FBLA (#1 locally, statewide, and nationwide), and overall our music and performing arts departments are excellent and have won many awards. We have so much to offer at Homestead and I'm proud to say that I was a student here. Go Mustangs! Go class of 2010! 1-0, you know!

My son was a student there and my daughter is attending sophmore year there.. My kids and I have been happy with this High School for many reasons, It has great stuff, students learn everything they need to learn before going to college and the High School offers many programs for the student after classes and I think the parents participation makes a difference as well. so I am happy with Homestead High School. tina

Homestead is a phenomenal school! I'm so proud of the fact that I attend this school. I never expected to get so much out of my experiences here as a new student during my sophomore year, but I have truly come to love this school - the people, the staff, and the overall environment. True, it is pretty clique-y but you do get to meet amazing people nonetheless. There really is a 'club for everyone' and challenging yet interesting classes, particularly APUSH, AP English, AP Calc/Phys, and AP Chem. Some teachers aren't necessarily the best at doing their jobs, but hey, in the end, AP classes depend on how much time the students are willing to put in. This self-discipline obviously works; Homestead sends students to Harvard, Stanford, Columbia, MIT, and other prestigious schools every year - more students than the other schools in the district. I strongly recommend Homestead! :]

Yuck. This school bores the heck out of me, and the only time I actually learn anything is when we (the students) manage to get the teacher to go off on a tangent. Your experience at this school is mainly influenced by the choice of teachers you receive. And before you doubt me: straight A's, my GPA is higher than 4, and I'm involved in clubs. I'm not some random hater.

Overall, I think Homestead does a fairly good job of preparing students for college. I do have to say that they do have some fairly awful teachers. I feel the academic reputation of the school is largely based on the students themselves and not necessarily the quality of the teachers.

Great extracurricular activites, an amazingly diverse student body, relaxed atmosphere ( a child can fit in, no matter what their interests) not as academically inclined as nearby academic powerhouse Monta Vista, but scholastic just the same. Downsides; due to the huge population increase in the school, they've been having problems with schedules, and giving students the classes they want ( this includes AP and honors). This could mess up stuff, and if you're willling to fight to get what you want, come here! It's an amazing school otherwise.

The administration seems to avoid addressing student issues. While the teachers may try their hardest, they simply do not have the tools. Schools in Cupertino are overrated.

I have two children enrolled at Homestead this year, a senior and a freshman. The school is large, welcoming, highly diverse, and academically exciting. Students participate in a wide range of clubs, some of which regularly win national distinction (FBLA, Math Competitions Team, etc.) I strongly recommend the school.

This is a really divided school. Very hard to explain. No fun, all work mentality is very harsh. I wouldn't recommend any students to attend schools in the Fremont Union District. This school is horrible.

Homestead has a good quality academic program. They offer most AP classes, and have many extracurricular programs. However because of budget cuts, many expenses for these programs are out of pocket for the parents. They have an excellent marching band and music program, and have heavy parent volunteering and involvement. The school has a culturally diverse student population. One bad thing: school does not offer classes in German and Latin languages.

Homestead High is great for the child who is academically oriented, with no social problems. My daughter had social issues her four years at Homestead that interefered with her academic life. I am not blaming Homestead, I am just saying it was not a positive experience for my daughter.

'HHS is a school where the children come first. Each child is encouraged to do their personal best without being labeled as the smart or dumb kids. The teachers are highly skilled and work hard to bring out the best in each child. The principal is kind and knows each child by name. She is a great example of a leader and I will miss seeing her everyday as my daughter graduates this year. Thank you HHS for bringing out the best in my children and giving them the encouragement and confidence they need to go out into the world! '

Diverse student population; high academic standards with about a dozen AP courses offered. Regretfgully Honors courses are not always available in all areas of study (eg history, literature); Good sports and strong music programs; Foreign language dept does not seem to be a strength; Has had a problem with thefts on campus primarily the locker rooms but have tried to monitor more closely;

4/7 of my teachers are wonderful at teaching. out of that, 2 are extraordinary at teaching even though they've only been teaching there for 3 years each. the science and english programs, for freshmen are wonderful. the only thing is that it depends on whom you get. for biology,mrs. wu, the science chair, and mrs. curley, my biology teacher, are wonderful. for lit, my lit/ writing teacher, mr. cheli is extraordinary and inculcates in-front-of-the-class speaking skills with the everyday routine. in physical education, the varsity football coach, coach bostic, gets the students in shape and keeps them that way with rigorous routines every meeting. one of the art teachers,mrs. a, is pretty good if you have been exposed to more professional-type of drawing and expects a lot from those who haven't been.the rest of the academic courses are just the same old boring stuff,only because it depends on who's teaching it.

I think this school is great. Very highly committed staff members and administration. One of the assistant principals spent a great length of time with us on a Friday evening discussing some long range planning. Some faculty teach as though the students are in an university. The school has some fantastic clubs and their members get national awards year after year (e.g. FBLA). Students learn in a heterogeneous mix of ethnicities and a challenging atmosphere. Staff ensure a very safe environment.
