Every year when I get new classes I meet more people that I've never known before. And even though that can be looked at as a negative, I don't see it as one because I feel like Dana definitely has an easygoing atmosphere for getting to know people if you let yourself out in the open. (3/3)
in my few months at dana hills as a freshman it was an unforgettable experience i simply loved how the school was net to the beach the school looks fantastic it has that nice sea breeze the teachers are amazing especially mr.guarino. its too crowded there but you can still get to classes on time. overall its a great school, loved it and its easy to make new friends there.
Great school. Wonderful teachers and great campus. Perfect weather and about 2 miles from great beaches.
This school is beautiful and located in a beautiful place. The cross country team is exceptional! The dance teams are also incredible. There are tons of activities and as long as students get involved in sports friends will come quick. The only negative would be it hall ways are EXTREMELY crowded (similar to herding cattle). The teachers are for the most part very good and I learned a lot!
Dana Hills High is EXCELLENT! The AP Classes fully prepare students competitively for top-rated universities (from Ivy Leagues to Top UC Schools). The Science, Math (speidel, degen, prince), English , Literature teachers are excellent. Students scoreed an 825 on the API tests which puts them at the top of the district, and in the upper division in state and national rankings. About 4% of class earned AP Honors w Distinction. Another 3% earned AP Honors. These are National Scholastic Awards. Great student run yearbook and newspaper. The Student government is student run and well directed by Ken Nedler. The academic advisors respond fairly quickly to questions. Ray Woods runs an excellent Choir program. DHHS Athletes win athletic scholarships; recently, from Stanford, Yale, Duke, UCLA, USC, etc. Lots of school spirit. Any 'bad element' are escorted out of school, dances and sporting events by guards, marines . SAFE school! Clean ocean air!
I absolutely loved my four years at Dana. Like many schools, you get out of it what you put into it. There is a great sense of community (despite the large student body) especially for those who decide to be engaged, work hard, and have fun. The teachers that were there when I was a student were fantastic: Evans, Degen, Sherill, Imbili Townsend, Cunningham, McIntyre, the entire science department. They were extremely committed to providing their students with a high-quality education. There are lots of AP courses, and also plenty of extra-curricular activities: I swam and played polo, was on the yearbook staff, and participated in a few clubs. All in all, my time at Dana offered wonderful friends, great experiences, and a fantastic preparation for college and graduate school.
Great school. The best school in southern orange county. The academics are always in the top and Dana Hills has been consistently voted by Newsweek as a top 5% high school in the nation! The sports programs are also great. All the programs are achieving spectacular things and cross country both boys and girls is the best running program overall for the pas 30+ years of its existence. Both won the state championship this past year.
I have another child at another high school and Dana Hills is by far the best in many areas
Even though the school is overcrowded, this school has been very eventful and enjoyable. It isn't difficult to make friends since there are so many people to choose from. The Cross Country team is the best!! Go Dana!!
This school is way too crowded. It is difficult to make any close friends with so many people at the school. I never have even seen the principal. It has a lot of extra activities but they are all VERY expensive.
