I am a graduate from Emerson Jr. High in Davis, California. I am disappointed to say that my experience at this middle school was far from positive. The instruction I received from a teacher in the math department ruined my math career; problems were done for me instead of being explained to me and his overall teaching methods were destructive, having unfortunate consequences for his students. I spoke with the principle and the counselor and was not allowed to change classes, nor were my complaints investigated. I am extremely sad that my Junior High experience was so negative. As a community we need to show the school district that this type of teaching will not be tolerated. The reputation of Davis Schools is the responsibility of its teachers and administrators, it is extremely unfortunate that their behavior has been consistently inappropriate. As far as junior highs go I would recommend any other school besides Emerson.

I love this school because we despite all of our budget cuts, we have a wonderful visual and performing arts program!

This school trys it best to be involved with the students. There are some problems with the school layout whick is somewhat confusing but not impposible to get used to. The lunches are also very good but that depends on personal opinion. They might be considered unhealthy. But to me they're awesome :) They have vending machines. But So far only a couple work. The schools counselors are also very helpful and supportive and will listen to any problems that a student has. Lockers are hard to get open, so most kids don't really use them. The biggest problem I have is that I wish we had more time to transition from class to class. All said and done emerson junior high is a pretty good school to attend.

This school is pretty good. I think people should donate money to fund newer classrooms and bathrooms.

My son (new student) received a warm welcome from the counselors, teachers and vice principal. The teachers have already communicated with me and are supportive of my son. We are relieved to enter such a supportive environment and feel that he will do quite well at Emerson.

I am currently attending this school. Emerson jr. high is very advanced scholastically, but lacks discipline or decent supplies. The teachers are very involved and concerned, as well as some of the parents. Some problems at the school are ignored, and some are just dismissed, as 'we'll fix it later.' I recommend this school for the socially adept, not the outcast.

I believe this is a school with excellent teachers that know the subjects but the campus should be redone.
