This is an excellent pre-school geared at giving children a head start on academics in a supportive and nurturing environment. Our daughter's self-esteem and confidence can be attributed in part to her ability to read, write, spell, and do arithmetic. Based on California's current enrollment guidelines, she will be eligible for kindergarten in September 2014, but academically will be a second grader or higher. The director, Mr. Bernie, works directly with the children in mathematics; addition, subtraction, skip counting, combinations, etc. it is amazing what she can do. Additionally, CAOS integrates social studies, science, geography and an overall love of learning. The staff is vigilant in monitoring student behavior and communicating concerns with parents allowing for early intervention. Parent participation is required to complete the ridged homework regiment. CAOS is exactly what we wanted for our daughter.

Children's Academy of Success is an Awesome preschool in so many ways. My son has attended the school for about a year and I have seen dramatic changes in his behavior as well as his academics. My son had been attending another preschool prior but was becoming to aggressive, he had to learn how to defend himself because of so many other children and lack of supervision. The class sizes here are such smaller and the children are given more attention. After just a few weeks at CAS I saw such a difference.First of all he enjoyed doing his homework! This was also a dramatic change. He was much calmer,he wanted to help his cousin learn what he was doing at school, he was so proud of what he was learning and could do. This school year he will be starting kindergarten. At the initial assessment the public school kinder teacher said he achieved 100% on the test! She said he was more than ready for kinder. I plan to keep him at CAS for kindergarten since I saw such dramatic change. The cost is a sacrifice worth making because the first years of school are so important in creating a strong educational foundation on which to grow. Thanks to all the wonderful teachers and staff!

Children's Academy of Success is the best academic preschool in Downey. Our son has attended this school for two years and loves it! Teachers at Children's Academy stress the importance of an early start on a good education and give focused attention to the academic needs of students. I am so impressed with the progress of my son's skill sets in reading, language, and mathematics. He was reading in a matter of months and has become a whiz triple digit math at 6 years old! The lleadership at Children's Academy is exceptional and I highly recommend this school to parents in Downey.

When selecting a school for my son, I visited various schools in Downey, Whittier, and Pico Rivera; none felt right. Some were dirty, some had so many children I couldn t imagine the few staff members on site being able to adequately supervise all of them. Others seem like an all day playground and the worst one I found had a director whose vocabulary could really use some improvement. When I finally arrived at CAOS, met with Mr. Bernie and toured the facility, I was relieved. The school is small and likewise the number of students enrolled is small. I was immediately attracted to their clean and safe facility (the playground is located behind the school not on a major street like other schools). All I can say is that CAOS felt RIGHT for me, especially because I was looking for a school were my son could grow and learn. In my case, I didn t need babysitting / daycare services, I needed a learning center. CAOS is committed and focused in learning, the teachers are occasionally strict, but all is done for the best of the children. My 3yr-old son has been enrolled for the past 6 months, I am amazed at all he's learned and how independent he's become. I made the right choice :)

we checked the pre-schools in our area b4 enrolling our daughter in pre-k. this school focused on academics the most. in pre-k she learned math(addition) at 3rd grade level and now in kindergarten she is reading! she loves to read and we are amazed at how much she knows at the age of five. we highly recommend this school to anyone whowants their children to soar in academics. the name fits the school's vision perfectly.the director and the teachers have raised their standards above and beyond the national levelfor education and we are so proud to have our daughter in this school, she says she will be a veterinarian or a doctor and it all starts here.100 stars rating for this school.

Our son has been attending Childrens Academy of Success since April 2009 and we cannot believe the level of math, language and reading that he has attained in that short time. He had major separation anxiety when he first started and we thought this would hinder his first experience with school and being able to focus on the curriculum. Through the guidance of Mr. Bernie and his dedicated teachers, our son has not only excelled in learning but he is more outgoing and sociable than he ever was. Our expectations have been far surpassed by CAOS and we see a very bright academic future for our beautiful son. If you are serious about a great education for your child and not a play all day school, then Childrens Academy of Success should be your choice.

The reason why the children at CAOS do extremely well is that we have set our standards higher than the International Standard in mathematics. Our expectations are high and children reach these goals with our unique apparatus and specialized system of instructions. Most children add and subtract by 5 years and some accomplish the task of adding 2 digit numbers with carry over. Our preschool children are at 2nd grade level. We are above the National Standard. This is possible as we maintain 10 children to a teacher. The number to call is 310.995.3371(24/7)

I have 2 children (ages 4 and 6) who have been attending Children's Academy of Success since Jan 2009. There is special care that goes into each child that allows them to grow academically as well as spiritually and socially. The fact that there is a small child to teacher ratio allows the teacher to understand your child's needs and learning style. The teachers as well as Director are in close communication with the parents and take a personal interest in seeing your child develop. They incorporate life skills that makes them well rounded individuals.Children's Academy has high expectations set for students to excel academically along with a strong desire for the children to thrive in the future. I am grateful to the staff for all their efforts and am excited each day to see their growth.

My daughter just turned 4 in December has been attending Children's Academy of Success since Sept. 2009. Since the beginning she has always showed an interest in learning so I decided to send her to school. Most schools wouldn't accept her because of her December birthday, so I started inquiring about Academys, Montessori's, and other private schools around. I was introduced to Children's Academy of Success thru a friend that I worked with. She raved on about how her son learned so much from Mr. Bernie and Ms. Rosa. Not only learning his abc's or 123's, but also social skills and mannerism. When I went to visit the school, everyone was most helpful, informative. Since my daughter has attended she now reads and can do addition, which is very impressive to me at an early age of 4. I highly recommend Children's Academy as a school to look into.

My daughter has been enrolled for almost two years. We have been impressed with the school's academic program since the beginning. At four, my daughter was adding and reading. My daughter looks forward to going to school. The teachers are excellent and truly care about the children. The student-teacher ratio is great. Children are taught manners as well. Highly recommend this school.

We put our Son in this school recently. He has been enrolled for 3 months. He has shown progress beyond my wildest dreams. He is reading, and doing mathmatics... and he is not even in kindergarten yet. I would strongly suggest this school. We originally had him in another school previously but it seemed like others schools are just a 'play center' with no learning. This school is about learning and progressing your kid to become the kids of the future. Highly recommended.

We have had our daughter in this school for almost 3 years and are more than impressed. She is only 6 and reads at 3rd grade level. She is learning cursive and even has been introduced to fractions. The teachers are great and we highly recommend it. It is a small school but the educational level is outstanding. Parents will see a huge difference in a matter of 2 months.

About these ratings

The Community Rating is the school’s average rating from its community members (e.g., parents, students, and school staff). The highest possible rating is five stars; the lowest is one star.

We currently do not have any test score information for this school. Unlike public schools, private schools are not always required to report data about their schools or not required to take the same tests as public schools. Many private schools take different standardized tests; however, that information is often made available only to families of enrolled students. We strive to acquire additional private school data whenever available.
