My son thought he was not athletic or musically talented. He is quirky and interested in current events. This school has a competitive debate program and the staff sponsors clubs such as California Junior Scholarship program, Builder's Club, and Guitar club among others. There is Cross country, which my son participated in, volleyball, soccer, basketball, and football. The teachers are caring and they get to know the students' strengths and weaknesses. With parent and community support, the staff at Northview is making things happen in this community!
My son's debate class competed against private schools and brought home trophies! the band program at Northview has grown to include various instruments and has created a tremendous bridge to high school band. there are so many opportunities for every kind of kid. I'm pleased with everything that goes on inside and outside of he classrooms at Northview Intermediate School.
The teachers only see our kids for an hour a day each. They are doing everything they are supposed to for them, We parents need to focus on what is good for our kids and be aware of their needs and be willing to support the learning goals for our students to succeed.
Northview is a very good school, great hardworking staff and wonderful administrators and counselors. They have Think Together after school until 6pm, many teachers tutor their students before school, after school and during their lunchtime. There are many electives including mandarin, spanish, guitar, chorus, band, theater arts, art appreciation, debate, yearbook, AVID, leadership - lots of clubs-- book club, guitar club, CJSF, Read 180, a reading intervention class was just implemented this year as well. The teachers are some of the most dedicated I have seen in the district.
This school is well organized and is a blast for the students and because of this, the test scores are low and pretty much the students run the school and can really get out of hand. Dances and other events can get inappropriate while this schools rewards the students with 2 breaks. The education is above average and that's great. Overall it's a average place for the average student.
Northview has been a pleasant surprise. After hearing so much negativity before we came here I can only think that the people who are complaining have never set foot on campus. The new cafeteria and locker rooms are beautiful. The teachers are engaged and the principal and office staff are very helpful and approachable. There are great extra curricular activities and I feel the kids are challenged and held accountable for their actions. All in all it has been great so far!
NORTHVIEW is the best kept secret in the San Gabriel Valley. The principal, teachers, staff & PTSA are all welcoming, friendly & dedicated. It has just as many programs to offer as schools twice its size. It's small enough so everyone knows everyone, like a family. The kids enjoy going to school instead of dreading it. The new campus is beautiful with a new cafeteria & new gym locker rooms, I don't know what else parents could ask for.
