Dunlap School a positive and invigorating place for all students to learn. 808+ CST score Extensive after school program Grant Save the Children. Award winning as well! Earned an amazing fitness center in 2010 as the top school in California with the Governor's Challenge. Dedicated teachers and amazing principal all come together to make Dunlap the place to learn and grow!

My experience with Dunlap elementary has been limited and somewhat strained. This school is very lucky to have Mrs Mercier, history teacher, who has taken on tutoring my son (in math). Teachers like Mrs Mercier are in-tune with kids' needs and recognize when kids are putting forth the effort but have difficulty understanding. This history teacher is a blessing and Dunlap school is lucky to have her on staff there.

Handful of quality teachers; need to raise the bar-not high enough expectations and too few teachers willing to change how they teach--most have been at the school > 10 years; still don't see enough teachers successful at teaching to standards; classroom behavior needs to be managed better; no real character-building program or consistent expectation for respectful behavior (but school believes it has an assertive discipline plan-as a parent who assists in the classroom, I do not see it); no gymnasium or multi-purpose room; limited music or art (band/orchestra available gr 6-7-8)after-school sports 5th gr up; limited 'electives' for the 6-7-8th graders-depends on what the jr high teachers want to do (ex. paint ceramic statues); new teacher is good and has offerred great electives, but not all students can take her classes; test scores 600s; positives: mountain environment; new principal &learning director; demographics changing and better educational process will be demanded
