Awesome is all I need to say about De Anza Magnet School!!! My Daughter is in her 2nd year here and is doing extremely well thanks to the wonderful teachers, staff and the most friendliest principal around...

My child is new here and I was not pleased with how the enrollment process went. After day 2 I was still getting calls from her old school, because De Anza had still not requested her transcripts. I also did not get to meet her teacher and discuss my daughter before she started class. I was very disappointed with how unorganized the office is run. On top of all this, we spent 5 hours running around town looking for the mandatory uniforms, that no one carries after the beginning of the year.

My kids are supported by their teachers when they need to move ahead in the curriculum. They are not held back and bored, which means less time sitting out at recess for talking during class! I like the fact that the principal get to know all of the children by name and is very proactive if a parent shows a concern.

Our school has the best communication between principal, teachers and parents. Everyone works really well together. There is also no bullying in our school. Everyone keeps a good eye on that and it just doesn't happen... As a parent, that is very important.

I love this school because the teachers are very highly educated and they treat the students with respect and best of all, there is no kid left behind. Students at De Anza school really know what they are doing because the teachers teach them good. I am so proud to have 3 honor rolls children and 2 of them are also GATE students, thanks to the time and efforts and hard work that the tachers put in. God Bless America for having Educators like De Anza School has.

De Anza has great teachers and staff and a great principal too. The small school atmosphere is wonderfull and the students and parents are great too. We have a lot of fun at our school functions and I feel that we work well together. :)

We have the best staff! Every teacher puts in 200% of their time and energy and it shows in our students' faces. We are all about changing lives and showing students how much we care about them. Every teacher at our school loves to teach and students love to come to school. Parents support us and we support them. We are a family! We are De Anza Magnet Elementary School!!!

The energy of the school and its students. It has an atmosphere of excellence and most importantly it has been instilled into the student population consistenlty thoughout the years. Each year, with the added technology component to almost the entire school, the interest in science, math and computers has made the school stand out. It has also, moved up its api at least 10 to 15 points per year. This last year it gained 30 api points. It is a great environment for teachers, parents and students. In the last four years they have received multiple awards for excellence, the last one was distinguished school and reading first for the last four years.

I am an employee at the school as well as a parent of 2 students and I must say that De Anza is a great school. There is a great deal of parent involvement, our PTO is amazing - always thinking of the students, teachers, parents and our needs. The teachers are the best ever. The academic programs are great, they really aim to help each and every child. There are always many activities planned to keep the children & their parents.The principal & staff are great with the kids. I love this school and wouldn't want to have my kids anywhere else.

About the tests


In 2011-2012 California used the California Standards Tests (CSTs) to test students in English language arts in grades 2 through 11; math in grades 2 through 7; science in grades 5, 8 and 10; and history-social science in grades 8 and 11. Middle and high school students also took subject-specific CSTs in math and science, depending on the course in which they were enrolled. The CSTs are standards-based tests, which means they measure how well students are mastering specific skills defined for each grade by the state of California. The goal is for all students to score at or above proficient on the tests.

The different student groups are identified by the California Department of Education; if there are fewer than 10 students in a particular group in a school, the state doesn't report data for that group.
