I have two children at Tehiyah Day school who are inspired and excited everyday to participate in this amazing program of holistic learning intertwined with Jewish values. This learning model has been extremely effective for our family. I have watched children of other families grow into responsible and caring young adults with a tremendous respect for their peers and the world as a whole. They leave Tehiyah prepared for the next phase of their student life. It is true that they live the curriculum at Tehiyah, as they are able to experience "real life" as it happens from visiting places in California to a comprehensive trip to Washington and on to their final journey to Israel in the eighth grade. Their track record of academic achievement is excellent as the students continue to score as one of the highest in the nation in state testing for independent schools. With a low student to teacher ratio, children get the necessary attention they need to succeed. I never thought I would have that kid who comes home and thanks me for sending him to Tehiyah. Give your child a chance to have the same experience my children have had and schedule a tour today. You won't regret it !

My two children, like so many others who have commented, are absolutely thriving at Tehiyah ! All the good things other parents have said are true. The school weaves VALUES into teaching the children. The kinds of values that matter whatever the families religion and ethnic background may be. Did you know that the majority of families have at least one non-jewish parent? Did you know that we have one Koptic Christian family at Tehiyah? Did you know that there are Chinese, African American, Latino, and children of Gay parents at Tehiyah not many of each, but they are there? The school does its best to reflect and celebrate the diversity that exists in the Bay Area. So many have commented on the fabulous teaching style but I want to add one more element learning at Tehiyah is an integrative sport. Learning something in literary studies is often reflected in the art projects and science projects and so forth. We are very grateful to be a part of this community!

This is an amazing gem in the East Bay! A warm community, fantastic academics, and incredible, passionate teachers. The school overtly teaches VALUES to the children. It is woven into the entire curriculum. Somehow this school keeps turning out these well-rounded, well-adjusted, smart and nice kids. Middle schoolers who speak directly to you and are happy and polite?! Elementary age kids who can't wait to go to school, and who miss school on vacation days?! I don't know the secret. But I feel like my children would not be who they are if they didn't go to Tehiyah. Tehiyah is magical. I feel like we hit the jackpot when we found this school. And one of the best parts about it is that now a lot of my kids' friends' parents are MY friends. I don't mind spending my weekends at birthday parties because I know I will get to catch up with some fun cool people. We get together as families for weekend dinners and holidays. My kids are seeing that strong community connection and know that there are a lot of other adults in their lives who they can depend on. The kids they go to school with are so close to them. They are growing up together. Again: Tehiyah is magical!

Great sense of community, great adherence to differentiated learning. I saw the comment regarding "Weak leadership and overbearing parents who run the school". I see strong leadership and significant and committed parent involvement. The latter, definitely more so than at other schools I know about. I see the high level of parent involvement as a net plus overall for many reasons. One being the 'sense of community' noted above.

Our family has been very happy with this school. Have had kids go thru from kindergarten to 8th grade. The school has a great, warm, involved community. Good emphasis on ethics and community. Academics are strong but with enough room for creativity and open-ended learning, not just teach-to-test. Awesome visual arts. Israel trip in 8th grade is a life-changing highlight!

Our daughter has a July B-day. Last year we reluctantly sent her to the Bridge program. Thank God we did! Looking back, we now know we made the right decision. She gained all the social and academic skills needed in Kindergarten. This year she is handling the challenges really well.

Weak leadership and overbearing parents who run the school. Lower school math has been so weak. A disruptive environment for the focused student - school sorely lacking in discipline. We are gone in a few weeks, and my kid can't wait.

I love Tehiyah Day School. I have had one child go all the way from kindergarten through eighth grade at the school, who is now doing wonderfully well in high school. My sixth grader has also been at the school since kindergarten and loves it. The academics are developmentally appropriate, ramping up through the grades so that graduates are doing great at the local private and public high schools. The Hebrew program put into place a couple of years ago is amazing and by eighth grade the students are very adept at reading, writing, and speaking Hebrew. They learn ethics and morals in their Judaic Studies classes. Best of all, the school is a joyful place full of singing, performing, and fun.

I could go on and on about why I am so happy my daughter goes to Tehiyah. I often refer to the school as a warm nest - where children are nurtured and encouraged to develop into their best selves (academically, socially, ethically, etc). The teachers really see children as the unique individuals they are and look at children as whole people - not just little brains. And, then there is a warm community that supports one another in good times and bad - and the hands-on learning opportunities and fabulous field trips and great faculty and joyful Jewish learning. Check it out! You won't be disappointed.

Tehiyah is a wonderful place to grow children!! From academics, to social responsibility, to the every-day ins-and-outs of figuring out how to be a productive member of society, my children have learned so much at Tehiyah. The school provides a welcome environment for a range of Jewish families (from not-so-oservant to observant) and all children at Tehiyah are valued for who they are and their limitless potential to grow into amazing adults. I feel truly blessed to be able to give the "gift" of Tehiyah to my children.
