We have lived in ES for 13 years and the quality of the education and staff support/involvement is amazing. My daughter is in 8th grade and has many needs that require extra effort and patience from the staff. They have all been consistently supportive and caring and they genuinely care.

'We have 1 currently attending Richmond Elementary school. It is a small town community with wonderful caring parents and fantastic teachers and staff The quality of the instruction has been great for our Son He is challenged and pushed to do his best consistently. Parent groups like the PTA and ED Foundation do an amazing job of fundraising and building a sense of strength in our community.. It is a wonderful place for our son to spend his day and I am pleased to be part of such a great town and school .'

Sophisticated, El Segundo is not, but what makes it great is the 'lack' of sophistication. The town, and I do mean town, is what makes it great. It's Mayberry in 2009. You can let your kids walk to school, the park, down to Main St. (yes, there is a 'main' street) and feel they are safe. The vibe may seem unfriendly to outsiders, but I found that it's well worth it for the great schools. I have not heard of any discrimination among the kids - racial or because they are 'permit kids'. IF there IS any discrimination, it's seems to be among the adults. My overall rating is very good - ESMS is giving my children the best public education I can find for them in the area. I highly recommend the entire school district.

I went to this school. Although the town atmosphere is unfriendly and somewhat unsophisticated; the education I received was outstanding. Even lazy, average, or unmotivated students will come out ahead after going to ESMS. The only drawback is that you will go through life thinking everyone is stupid, until you realize they just didn't get the same quality of education.

My daughter attended this school in 2006-2007 school year. She came from Washington State Montessori school. I didn't like the fact that she was required to learn what her current grade level was learning if she already knew it. When her father had a conference with the Principal and teacher, their only solution was to have her take a test to be placed in a higher grade level. That was not the answer I wanted. I didn't like the structure of her having to learn something she already knew and there were no options for an advanced class. The teacher's next suggestion was to have her be a student assistant. Which still was not resolving the problem of her excelling at learning more. Very disappointed.

this school was amazing I have now been to three other middle schools and not one of them compared to the quality of esms I HIGHLY recomend this school

My daughter attended 6th and 7th grades at ESMS as a permitted student. With permits becoming more difficult to obtain each year, we made the decision to move to El Segundo last year. She completed 8th grade as a resident and received an outstanding education at the Middle School. The faculty are very encouraging and supportive and the level of communication is excellent. The availability for non academic opportunities in great, with many different choices. I would highly recommend ESMS to anyone parent considering their child's educational options.

El Segundo Middle School is one of the best I've been involved with. The level of expectation is high but the teachers work with the kids to be successful. There are more activities for the middle school than I've ever seen - it's great for working parents.

ESMS has a great financial base and is able to provide excellent programs which lead to the balanced maturity and preparatin of the student. I have watched my son grow into a wonderful young man who is mature, balanced, and ready to advance to the college of his choice. Thanks

We are very please with the quality of educaton and the variaty of programs that this school has to offer. Teacher are well prepered on the subjects they teach. The Principal makes everybody feel that they belong here. Our son is graduating this year and we know that he is ready for high school because of the great education he recieved at ESMS.

I love teaching at this school. I have taught elsewhere and I'm thankful for the wonderful students, parents and administation. While I don't always agree with everything that happens here and in the district I know that I will at least be allowed to express my opinion.

I am currently an 8th grade student at ESMS. I think it's a great school, and for the most part, it has great teachers. I have the best language arts and social studies teacher (Ms. Teitelbaum!) Mr. Walter and Mr. Cal, are the coolest PE teachers ever, and because your personalities are so cool, I forgive you for making me run miles and laps, and making me play sports, that frankly, I'm not very good at. We recently did STAR testing, and I found everything to be rather easy, so let's hope, I got them right! And although the school will never be what it was with Dr.Webb, Ms. Chiara is a close second.

I just started at ESMS,and I love it. Its the best school ive ever gone to. The teachers are really nice, the principal totally fair,and the parent involvment is great.And safe.It is the safest school in southern California. As for who ever said 'discrimination runs rampant here' not at all, trust me I'm middle eastern!
