This school is all about the spirit of sports and popularity-if you are an average or struggling student this school is not for you. The administration is something to be desired. There are a few teachers that care but many unprofessional ones; including demeanor and dress.
After 4 years at PGHS, the decline in the quality of education and the school environment is startling. Budget cuts have resulted in situations such as teachers that are clearly not qualified teaching AP classes and classes sizes that are climbing to 40 students! The administration is not supportive of individual students or parental concerns. We had such high hopes for this school. It is disappointing to see the direction it is going. We will be putting our other children in private school instead.
I graduated with the class of 2010 and I absolutely loved PGHS. From the challenging academics, to the amazing school spirit, to the top-notch sports teams, Pleasant Grove is a very well-rounded school. There are many opportunities for students to succeed in the classroom and even more for them to become involved in extracurricular activities. Some of the teachers are amazing teachers and people that have touched my life. I know that I will take what I have learned from this school and use it to become successful in college and wherever else I go in life. . -Blackpinoyeagle
The school is not as good as most people think. It has gone down in 2010. Teachers carry their problems from home to sch, not focus like used to. There are too much manipulation and drams from the front office staff. It is really the students who study hard and has motivation to do well and succeed. It is not from the school or teachers.
The teachers have great influence!
I went to PG, for my 9th grade year and im must admit.. its th ebest school i have ever been to .. right now i curretnly attend Hiram johnson and compared to pg its nothing .. Its a safe shool.. and one of the best n acadimics /!! if yuo want you child to succed you should sen them to pg !! ---Ana Villanueva !!
I have attended this school for a year and have seen how the teachers and counselors are helpful and supportive but the elective course selection is not desirable in my opinion. Also i wish that the school was more diverse and that the school was more exciting and a place that you want to come to everyday. despite all of this the school has wonderful academic programs and classes.
My experience so far in Pleasant Grove has been exciting to say the least. With so many extracurricular activities to offer combined with an extensive variety of classes makes Pleasant Grove one of the best schools in the county. Also it is ranked 'first' and the results of Pleasant Grove students were far superior than other high schools in the district.
I have been to three different schools in the EGUSD and I must say that this school comes first in acedemics and second in school spirit in contrast to EGHS whereas they come second in acedemics and first in school spirit. The teachers are very kind and understanding and as long as your child fits into a solid group of friends, they'll survive.
This is my daughter's second year at this school. My daughter, husband, and I are very happy with the school. The teachers are very good and caring and provide an excellent academic environment. Though my daughter is not the best student there is, she is being challenged academically and is enjoying most of the classes she is taking. She is also involved in one sport and clubs and really likes these extracurricular activities. Finally, I have been very impressed with the parent involvement that I have seen at the school. There is good parent turn out for Back-to-School Night, which you don't often see in high school.
