This review is based off my first impression, but I am the type of person who can grasp main ideas very quickly from small observations. I am also a new junior attending this school. Firstly, I was not expecting much out of public schools, but the staff surprised me in a pleasant way. They were all very helpful and solved issues quickly; usually in just a day. They were all also very willing to help and assist me in finding my way around the school and understanding my schedule and courses (since I'm from a neighboring state, I was very confused by the EGUSD block schedule and everything). Unfortunately, I cannot say the same for the kids that go there. My expectations could be high because I come from a close-knit charter school with a very low population but very friendly students. However, no one bothered introducing themselves or striking up a conversation with me; nevermind offering help when I was lost and confused. Disruptions and disrespectfulness were present in every class, and this was something I wasn't used to either. It could be the fact that I was a newcomer and a junior (so everyone already had friends), but my first day was not a good social experience at all.

Wow, what can I say. As a recent graduate of LC, I've enjoyed my time here immensely and was fortunate enough to go to a top US university. Here were all of the things that I observed during my time here: 1. The TEACHERS are absolutely the best. 90%+ of them truly care and many have been teaching for decades. 2. The counselors are sincere and are willing to help you out with any problems (personal or school problems). 3. The students. Man. I've been bullied in all the elementary schools I went to, even during middle school. And I'm sure I would've been in high school as well, or at least at another high school other than LCHS. Here, I just felt and observed that everyone with cool with one another. There weren't any "cliques" -- sure people belonged in groups but for the most part, everyone was immersed and sincere to one another. It's weird to say this but for high school kids, I thought we here were pretty mature. I think this is mostly due to the rich and diverse nature of the student body. And I laugh whenever I hear criticisms of fights - during my time here, I've only seen <4 and it's like, the last of what I'd think about when I think of my excellent time here at LC.

The teachers here are easily the best part of the experience. They really care about their students. I graduated last year and I still wish I was back. School was the best place for me. It's a very safe school, despite rumors to the contrary. In my four years there I only saw about five fights and all were broken up within five minutes. The facilities are just adequate, but it's a small school with a small budget (due to district-wide cuts) and I never had a problem with them. There are many clubs on campus to get involved with and they have two community service clubs.

This school has challenged me far beyond what I thought I was capable of. The teachers really care about students' opinions and situations. The administration is actively involved in student activities and very supportive and there are rarely any fights at this school. I myself am a junior at Laguna Creek and have only seen at 5 fights that only lasted a minute or so. I feel very safe and the band, photography, Honors, and AP programs are absolutely fantastic! This is a great school.

This school is amazing! The teachers actually care about the students. It is so diverse, and they are beginning to start the IB program. The AP/honors classes are great, and soon IB is going to challenge the students even more. I am really glad that this school is offering it.

The administration, especially the principal, has no clue on how to handle the disruptive students. Don't even think about sending your children to this school!

I feel like this school has turned my child around! Back in Washington, she hung out with the so-called 'druggies' and never learned anything. Here at LCHS, the councilors talk to her and listen to her. Her grades now are A's and B's, she's even joined a club. This place is not just a high school, but a miracle center.

I feel the school has a lack of leadership at the top. Too many kids just allowed to get away with too much. As parents we pay for too many administrators who just don't get the job done. I am sending my middleschooler to Consumes Oaks to get away from LCHS.

My son has done well here. The teachers, especially in the MPTA program are outstanding and caring. Have only had a few issues. Some of the students are disruptive and need more discipline at home, but the school seems to handle them well.

Hello I am a Freshman student at Laguna Creek High school and I would like to inform everybody this school is really great! There are teachers, counsilers, and career center advisers that really care about you! The school is not as ghetto as it seems as long as you stay away from the bad crowd! I have only heard about one fight on campus just a couple of days ago, and that was an anger management problem. Not bad eh? There are loads of opertunities for teens to achieve greatness!

This school is not a good path to success for your child. There are students that smoke in front of the school entrance every morning, unless of course, they are expelled. This school has a high number of poor attendance. Test grades stink more than their restrooms do.

I have had 2 daughters graduate from LCHS and a son who is a freshman this year. This school has given my children an exceptional education and desire to contribute to the community. One went on to UC Davis, the other to Berkeley. All my children have been involved with sports and they definitely strive to promote student athletes. Agreed that more parents need to get involved in activities.

Used to be an excellent school but fails now to push its sports teams to be student athletes. Poor control of student body and a powder keg waiting to blow. Is not aggressive with academics and lacks a progressive plan to stay competitive with other local high schools. Terrible parent participation in activities.

LCHS is a wonderful school, full of teachers that care about them and thier grades. I am a freshman at Laguna and take it from me, its not hard to feel part of something fantastic. It is true that the overachievers overachieve and the lower people are pretty low and theres not very many averages, but the people in general are really awesome and motivated people. There are a lot of clubs and things to belong to that make you feel apart of something. I'm involved with STEP-a club aimed to promote equality. The band program is awesome, and there are a lot of ethnic clubs to join. Don't bash Laguna! The students are overall great and the teahers are too. I mean if we had more money...it would be different but we make the best out of what we have. Go Cardinals!

As a social worker, I find that the school counseling department is understaff. With so many students, many that are lagging academically behind are not quickly indentiifed with preventive measures. I feel that the school counsleing department must aggressively adopt new policies to help these students.

EGUSD has undergone changes within the past 5 years. There is a decline in academic performance. There is less focus on AP classes while more students are enrolled in remedial classes to help them pass the CAHSEE. LCHS classes are overcrowded. Increased development approved by the city of EG has hindered academic performance. The increased residential and apartment development in LCHS attendance area has dramatically impacted scores and classes which are offered. With the implementatation of CAHSEE the school has implemented remedial-classes,which has shifted the focus from AP-achievement. There is a gap between student performance and parental education. Development has diminished academic quality.

My daughter has attended LCHS for two years and we have been impressed with the quality of education and the advocacy program. There are numerous clubs for the kids to join that brings kids from every background together to understand each others cultural background. The school, however, currently has low parent involvement.

This is an incredible school. Their numerous award-winning programs, and highly praised sports teams are huge assets to the school and the student morale. Laguna has some of the most spirited teens you will ever meet, unfortunately, recent negative media attention has cloacked the school in community distrust and negative outlooks that are untrue and outright preposturous. The rocketry club is sixth in the nation and has even recieved an opportunity to work with NASA this summer. Continually, the students have proven themselves above the average curve - both academicaly and in their amazing work in the community. STEP is another program in work at Laguna that has recieved little notice but has been working for the last four years. It is a constant force on campus working towards equality for everyone. Laguna is not a place riddled with hate, but rather a wonderful learning environment.

The appearance of the school looks great but the teachers and administration people are very lacking they don't seem to care about the students and their grades! Counsolers don't follow up with thier students. Not to mention the hazing in the school and discrimination teachers see this and do nothing!

Laguna Creek has been awarded a 'New American High School' for it's outstanding curriculum. It also has been at or near the top in the prestgious EGUSD for test scores, attendance, four-year college entrance rquirements met and many factors. Also, LCHS has an outstanding athletic program with several state champion student/athletes, numerous section title banners as well as league titles.

I am very, very disappointed with Laguna Creek HS. The classes are over crowed. The teachers and staff do not care about the students success. The majority of the students attending the school are self centered, spoiled, rude, and disrespectful. The would not recommend this school to my worse enemy.
