i love emelita because when my child comes home she always says she had a fun filled day
We love Emelita! It's a small school where the teachers, staff and principal really care about the kids! And since it's a smaller school, you don't get lost in the shuffle like at many of the neighboring schools. The PTA is very active in fundraising and in providing the school with additional resources and equipment not provided by the district. Emelita is a hidden gem!
Teachers are mean with children! Yelling and mistreating the children, All they care about the kids not being absent, because they get payed for the students attendace.
It's really small and cozy school. I really feel we're like a family with the teachers and parents
I love this school! The teachers and staff are amazing! They truly care about their students.
We love this school! The new principal has made a world of difference. My son has had excellent teachers and he loves his school. The PTA is very involved too - a very motivated group of parents who really care.
This school is a little gem in the heart of Encino,CA. My grandson just loves going to school.
This school is a little gem.It has wonderful teachers and is very academically oriented. It is a wondeful school.
The teachers and admin staff and assistants are wonderful, energetic and caring. Special Needs students are mainstreamed and welcomed into the general ed population. Decency and courtesy and responsibility are stressed. These values are lacking in our society and the next generation needs these lessons.
Have been at that school for 1 year already. Last year, we had a great teacher and were very pleased. This year, i can't tell yet as it is just the beginning. One thing for all who complained about the last principal, emelita has now a new principal, she is supposedly very good. Time will tell. I also know due to budget cuts the school has lost a few people, lets hope the parents can step up and help. One thing, is sure the school is good and wonderful but needs $$$$. If you are a parent at emelita, please volunteer to help, it will make a big difference.
Emelita is a sweet little school that is improving each year. The budget cuts will not help this situation. And what will we do without our new AP. She had brought a fresh perspective and really cares about the kids.
This is our second year at this school. I'm trying to like it, but there's a very strict overall feeling. I think the principal promotes this negative 'strict' feeling. The PTA is actively working to make the school a better place, and doing a good job! I have hope! The teachers are fabulous and most of the staff is too. This school would be great with different leadership.
I feel this is a great school. There is very active parent involvement, good teachers and additional programs available for students. (Previous PTA President, Pat Cox)
This is our 2nd year at Emelita. We are happy with our teacher, but very disappointed with leadership at the school. There is a tone of impatience and condescension from both the principal and some of the staff. If a problem arises, we have been met with alot of finger pointing and no responsibility or action from the principal. There is not enough competent supervision for students during breaks. The children are expected to fit into little molds rather than be individuals. My child does not feel comfortable asking for help or explanation because the staff is so abrupt. The PTA at Emelita seems to try hard and has already shown improvement from last year. They do need to work on informing parents about accomplisments and needs, because not everyone can attend meetings. The parents of Emelita are wonderful.
I am very proud of my school. I have worked very hard to make it a safe and happy campus. Thanks for this great web site. Marta Norton Principal
I have been a parent at Emelita Elementary for over 3 years. It is a great local school. Over this last school year there has been great improvements in many areas such as leadership, parent involvement, and programs focused on keeping gifted students. The schools academic scores continue to grow and there is focus on improving the school both in the immediate future and long term. Emelita is a nice place to be and provides a good learning environment for the children. Parent involvement appears to be on the rise and that is making a huge differnce. The principal has also demonstrated her 'open door' policy and this has allowed to make parents feel to be a bigger part of the school. The key is that this continues and hopefully parent involvement continues to grow.
This school is very nice and the teachers and staff care about all the kids as individuals. The people in the PTA are nice. This school runs well. The only problem is they dont have an SAS program so all the gifted students transfer out to other schools. Great place; very underrated.
My two boys attended Emelita School this past year. As we are new commers from another country the children did not speak a word in english and needless to say were hesitant about what was their school year will look like. As I look back , now that the year is about to end, I see two smiling boys who love to go to school, who feel confident and who are managing their academics - in english... The staff including the principle are helpfull, supporting and professional. the school's environment is plesent and warm. The children in Emelita are accepting, polite , friendly and sweet- in my mind it is in great part a result of the commitment and respect that the adults teach and demonstrate to the children.
My son has attended Emelita since Kindergarten and is now in the 5th grade. We have enjoyed a close relationship with his teachers and school staff who are always available for questions or to help the student in any way needed.
